This so called in depth, detailed process that is going to pick a coach is now a rushed 5 day thing to get the post GF people to apply.

You can't make this s**t up.

How long would expect it to take when you have a dedicated group focussed on this task?
2-3 interviews and you’ll know, don’t need a week to sit and think about it. No different to any other high positions employment process.

You’re also assuming the post gf applicants (if they exist) didn’t give those under NDA a wink sooner.

Tom Browne running with Brad being Essendon coach lol. I’m praying!

But he’s also been wrong a lot lately aswell as Clarkson being $1.05 to the dons so let’s hope he hits one of his darts
Also Tom Browne on us over previous weeks -
“I can confirm Alastair Clarkson will be the next coach of Essendon”
“Ross Lyon will coach Essendon in 2023”
“Yze has the job. Will be announced early next week”

Which as I've said before, makes me want to put the house on Hird getting it.

Wtf, is this for real?

Surely his contract would have to be looked at..

Well, from what I've heard from people who worked there is that the was what the club wanted it's supporters to think. Not to mention what actually happened was reported at the time (see above). The club wanted to grab some big fish with it's cap space and ended up with Jared Polec. Then Shaw came in with zero game plan, except the one the players could remember from when Scott was coach.
That's fine. I was not claiming to know the story of everyone at North. Just posting what I heard from a couple of first hand conversations that where in line with some other stories I had heard second hand. No doubt there are a few versions of what happened at North during that time as there always are differing views of exactly how things went in situation.

I guess my post did not explain my views exactly as I wanted. I was only saying Scott did not do a rebuild. I was not really pointing the finger as to why. They did not do a rebuild when he started and had not done one when he finished. That is all I meant to say. I have no confidence in him doing a rebuild as there was never one done under him so there is no actual form to say one way or another.

I do not claim to be ITK. Never have. I do not have a take it to the bank story. I am just a guy like many others who had a bit part job on the bottom rung of the ladder at a couple of AFL clubs that has contacts. Nothing more. Nothing less. Some of my info ends up being right. Some does not. I do not judge others who have info. I just post some of the stuff I hear . Everyone else can decide how to take it.

I posted my opinion based on info I had. That info was Scott had favorites and the playing group had some division in it. How much I do not know. No doubt there will be more than half that liked the guy. I have had others tell me the same. It sounded very similar to what I was told about Worsfold and his pecking order.

Personally I think he took over an okay list but did not progress it much further than what Laidley did.

At the end of the day next year I will still go to the 14 or so games a year I go to. I will be a member and if I am wrong I will own it like I always have on here. I will have a strong opinion and some ego but so be it. I hope whoever gets the job can turn it around. In the end it is out of my control so it will be what it will be.

For what it is worth some are saying (not media) Hird was going to do another interview today and Scott probably on Wednesday.

Scott 1st interview?
First official interview / conversation in more depth if it is true. From all reports there has been some contact but nothing or real note yet.

Mitch Cleary on Ch 7 news has said
..”it’s understood Scott has held meaningful dialogue with Essendon in the past month and interest will likely increase on the back of Andrew Welsh joining who’s a big fan”

i know its a joke but they do seem pretty unlikeable to me, just something intangible - even the aggressive post game speech scott made with arms folded.. carn mang, you've just won a flag, fells like were all being chastised here
As another morally indignant person, I enjoy their conduct.

In all seriousness, they do strike me as deep thinkers and super driven.

If Brad were to become our coach, I do think he would have reflected a lot on his time as coach at North and thought of ways to improve. If the comments on his player favouritism are true (and I wouldn’t know if they are), I think he’s switched on enough to know that now.

People pay him for that?

Feel as though it's likely Scott or Yze at this point, with the wildcard of Hird still very much lurking as an option.

Preferably Scott or Yze, but I'm also intrigued by the reality where we pick Hird... There is a part of me that wants to see how it would play out. None of the sensible parts, but a part.

Tom Browne is infinitely mockable but these aren't actual quotes for those that don't know.

Meanwhile, that Mitch Clearly is saying the poor man's Chris Scott is the favourite for the Essendon gig means it's the case.
