Pykes already said no?

I've seen conflicting reports on that but if so that means two of the top known candidates (Lyon and pyke) are out which means we probably go the untried route which if that's the case opens up more dangers that if the rest of the club isn't sorted out this will just be another career we torch.

We should go youngish again.... but our Circus has said they want an experienced coach so they've painted themselves in the corner.

or maybe experience in footy or life, any random experience.

Clowns.

Mahoney spoke on the radio (Lore linked it somewhere) and clarified that experience would also cover a guy like Yze who's been around the traps as an assistant for a while, not just past senior coaches.

There’s also your Fagan and Noble types that have been around football but not as coaches. Fagan was specifically named iirc.

Tin Foil Hat: Lyon is participating quietly in the process but is publicly ruling himself out to avoid a circus or damage to reputation if not selected. Essendon has agreed to this approach.

Regular Hat: Lyon has actually ruled himself out which is disappointing, I would have liked Ross as coach.

What are the odds of a Ben Rutten being coach?

Where’d you get announce a coach in 2 weeks?
Was reported in the Ross Lyon turning us down article that we want to name our coach by the grand final haha. I’m also worried
2 weeks and haven’t even got a shortlist, yet a number of experienced people not keen on coaching a massive club in Essendon, just shows how much of a basket case we look to the public and prospective coaches, couple years blokes would have been lining up for an opportunity like this. It’s quite sad, but our own fault.

You haven’t got a short list. Doesn’t mean the selection panel don’t

2.5 I guess but it’s still a short time frame, they’d have to have a shortlist this week, interviews next week. Make a decision and announce the week after.

Any assistant coach working in the finals series probably not too keen on that, and announcing they’re Essendon’s next senior coach while their team is about to play in a grand final wouldn’t work.

I’d have thought unveiling at the Crichton would make more sense, which is October 3rd. Or the week in between, end of September.
