Hird my first choice, get over it.
Lyon my last choice, * off not needed or wanted by most supporters.
Appoint Chocco for two years let him sought through the s**t.
Hardwicke would my dream appointment.
Most supporters!?? Says who??
Lyon has the most votes in our poll put up for next coach lol..
I for one would welcome a Lyon appointment,
blond headed savour on the other hand - no thanks.

I’ll just stick to him being one of my idols as a player.
Time to move on mate, I think your the one in the minority.

You’d take Dimma in a heartbeat as a coach.

One of the things that shits me about him is something that I begrudgingly acknowledge also helps make him a good coach: that he always defends his players, even to the point of ridiculousness. If a player puts a foot wrong in a game or the public arena, he’ll usually play it down or spin it to deflect criticism. As an outsider it’s annoying as it comes across like arrogance, but internally he absolutely has his players’ backs and he has their respect.

Also his nose is slightly smushed to one side but then I remember he was one of our own and all is forgiven.

Experience is not everything. How many "experienced" coaches have been unsuccessful? How many experienced Assistant Coaches have also failed? How much "experience" did Alastair Clarkson have before he became coach of Hawthorn? He really didn't have much. A great football mind is better than experience. And not all experience is good experience.

Whilst James Hird never achieved ultimate success as a coach, I think most fans would agree that in 2011 to 2013 we were a side that was actually making progress. In fact in 2013 we were really a contender, something we have not been since. Sure we have made the finals, but I don't think anyone was under any illusion of us being a serious challenge for the premiership as much as we were back then.

There are no guarantees that any of the other candidates will be a success as well, including Ross Lyon. Every one of them is just another roll of the dice. Ross Lyon could may well turn out to be another Malthouse or Pagan to Carlton.

One thing I have great confidence in with James Hird is that he will be able to get all factions of the club moving in the same direction. Any other coach will still have to learn how to deal with Essendon (that being the coteries, the membership and the club).

If another coach fails, we will just be going through this process again in a couple of years. If James Hird fails, we will be burning the place down and starting again.

Adam Yze would be my pick.

11 year assistant (meets experienced criteria) with two successful, premiership winning programs with a specialty in defense and midfield coaching. You would hope that if they picked him there would be an understanding he is there for the long haul to develop our big group of kids.

David Noble - 11 years
Brendon Bolton - 8 years
Alan Richardson - 11 years
David Teague - 12 years

Experience is not everything. I remember people advocating for Alan Richardson.

What makes Yze a better candidate than anyone else? Obviously GWS didn't think he was their best option.

They didn't think James Hird was their best option either.

Not being privy to anything I'd be happy with Yze or Lyon.
