Voss is going ok at Carlton on his 2nd go at it.
He is finally making a good fist of it but I reckon my dogs could coach that Carlton list at least into the 8. Remember last year when a team that had Cripps, Walsh, Curnow, McKay, Weitering, Cerra, De Koning, Docherty, Saad, McGovern, Williams etc. lost 6 in a row and were 15th? How is that even possible when half your team are supposed A grade or close to A grade players. Hence, I have Voss reservations.

I'd absolutely prefer an experienced senior coach - at least in some capacity, assuming we couldn't pry them out for the Senior role. (Ratten or Bucks as Footy Ops type sounds appealing).

Assuming we couldn't pry someone quality out like that as Coach, I would 100% look at Bassett again.

A ruthless, passionate psycho could be exactly what we need.

If Balme sticks around for 3 years I could absolutely go with a current assistant

Our coaching panel is poor because we are as tight as a fishes…
We are well known for being very cheap with coaches pay etc… we run the club as a business first and foremost. Winning is a very distant second to finances.
I suspect we have a LOT of long term staff members on the fringes that are all getting paid, rather than paying more for better coaches.

I highly doubt we spend the full footy dept cap. And wouldn’t be surprised if we spent the minimum player cap to boost the bottom line by another $700k or so.

Surely thats a little extreme. He has been at Melbourne 10 years and has been very successful.

What Melbourne/Goodwin have done is something to be emulated.

They brought in Paul Roos in 2013 and then Goodwin in 2014 where he served as an assistant for 2 years (2015/2016) before taking over.

Goodwin has coached 173 games. Is 100 - 72 - 1 and has a flag. He has made finals 3 out of his 7 years with a GF win, Prelim loss and Semi Final exit (by 13 points).

The difference here is that Goodwin is a premiership coach at AFL level. He has shown he has what it takes to deliver a flag.

Of all the boys club appointments to be upset about a premiership winning coach ain't one of them.

The difference would be that Hoody inherited the culture/system corrected by Roos. Nothing suggesting he has the ability/clout to do the same at our club. It needs the Roos years first.

He doesn't like losing. Nicksy has the loser mentality ingrained.

Brad Scott may be the most underrated of all of those, what he did with a very average Kangas list, keeping them in and around the 8 and making 2 prelims during his stint. Now working wonders with an Essendon list that is also doing much better than it should be.

Is he? That fluke team has a worse % than the 15th ranked team

Richmond were a pile of hot garbage when Hardwick took over, hadn't made finals in almost a decade, mostly finishing bottom 4 in that time.

They're not that good. When the heat is on, they crumble.

If I was the person in charge of finding a new coach i'd throw a monster offer at Christ Scott, give him anything he wants to sign on for 3 seasons. Since 2011 he has only ever had one losing season and that was last year. 10W 12L. He has won more games than losses every single year. He is at 8 this year with a monster injury list. He could be ripe for a change.

Jarrad McVeigh or Hayden Skipworth plus Balme or Craig , disastrous Nicks without a mentor, too late now.

Buckley probably not available or Goodwin to coach .

Please get rid of our list management group and Olsen , we are bottom of the pile now, it is going to be a long road back.

Neil Craig has mentored enough failures.

Nah....
There's been much more to the Geelong dynasty than Chris Scott.

He probably lead the orchestra well...but it was one hell of an orchestra!!

Port bought Nathan Buckley's memorabilia on his behalf at Buckley's divorce auction. Are they buttering up Buckley to coach Port in case they get rid of Hinkley?

Going to be awkward when Bucks is coaching us in 2026 and we just beat them 7 Showdowns in a row....

Need someone from a good system with premiership experience.

Dean Cox would be my pick as senior coach, Brett Ratten as Footy Manager, Neil Balme as a part time 'Consultant' or even make him Footy Director and piss Roo off. Then happy to have Rutten/Skipworth/Dew etc as assistants.
