Who should coach Freo in 2020

Re-wire, plumb, the coaching department and I would sign him to 2022. Do absolutely nothing and I
wouldnt waste my time with Ross and let him see out the contract.
Whether he stays or goes, must improve off the field to improve on it.
Same at Peel, both clubs need an injection of new ideas.

The changes would need to be significant imo, not just tweaks. Also, I’d only give him 1 year just in case it’s not enough but I am firmly in the Ross won’t deliver us a flag opinion, regardless of his support network.

Ross was streets ahead of all our other coaches regarding fitness, professionalism and many AFL clubs when he
first arrived.
But that Swans GF win in 2012 and loss by Clarkson unleashed the genie from the bottle and modern footy has
never been the same.
Clarkson revolutionised the game, on and off the field, his assistants get poached yet this just creates opportunity,
fresh voices.
We need more experienced teachers in modern football and with Ross's defensive capabilities maybe we can
reinvent, rejuvenate the club.

2021 will or should be enough time to sort both Peel and the Dockers out and then Ross is out of contract.

Caracella for coach !
I'd do a straight swap with Caaaarton for Teague!

Seriously, assistant coaches that we don't require for next year need to be told by Wednesday 31st July. So this will be interesting to see if the club signs the out of contract ones up again like last year, or will we hear of some changes?

Whether Ross coaches Freo next year has a lot to do with the Vic teams looking. If Carlton for eg come to Ross with a 4 year deal on good money, it will force Freo into a resigning decision.
I would have thought this is exactly what Ross’s management team are trying to achieve for theirs & the boss’s security.
Personally I don’t think Freo could possibly offer an extension in the current climate & I guess it will really test Ross’s loyalty if it came to it.
Supposedly Carlton have no interest in Ross. Can you blame them? Ross is finished. Magnificent coach for us, easily the best in our history, but absolutely shocking for years now.

Ross was the one that started the speculation about being the Boss by being seen with SOS. Then Judd says they don't want a coach with training wheels when asked about Teague!

The worst thing about Ross or Rosich is they didn't acknowledge the need for or implement changes in top level experienced assistants and S&C.

Also what were we thinking by having the list manager based in Melbourne for all those years and ignoring our home grown talent?

How would Pyke go as coach, don't think he will last much longer at the Crows if they continue as they are going. I'm not necessarily a fan but at least they might do a clean out and give him 2-3 quality assistants and he might listen to them..Ross's biggest failing is he thinks his way is the only way and then surrounds himself with yes men.

Hinkley is actually an interesting talking point. At the end of 2017, where Port went out of the finals in disappointing fashion, which was on the back of two seasons missing the finals, there was a lot of discontent among Port fans with him being the coach, and some talk Port were happy for him to re-sign.

Gold Coast made Hinkley a big money 5 year offer. Most pundits expected him to take it, paving the way for Dew to be the fresh new young coach at Port Adelaide. Then Hinkley tells the Port board he'll leave unless they match the offer. Kochie matches, and he's still their coach to this day, much to the anger of Port supporters.

I could see something similar happening with Lyon. Already the media is beginning to speculate him being sought out by Carlton and St Kilda, which suggests he still has value as a coach. He might go to the Fremantle board at the end of the year, tell them he intends to leave for Carlton unless Fremantle give him what he wants, and suddenly, he's your coach long-term again.

Longmire at Sydney is another similar example.

You must be joking 😜 Ross would be lucky to get a 2 year deal with plenty of clauses.

The stubbornness of the ceo not to admit he ****ed up the last contract is the reason he is still there. He knows if he admits he was wrong he falls on his sword but he is more concerned about his own pride than the health of the footy club

Will we hear though?

I noticed today next to Chris Scott is Corey Enright and Matt Scarlett. Geelong legends that the next generation can look up too.

We have Prior, Rock and Hale who none of our new players have probably even heard of

Who are Freo's equivalent of Scarlett and Enright?
