It's about investing salary cap capital and draft capital to improve your list.
No 3 draft pick is decent draft capital is it not?

I like how the Carlton supporter group are continually telling us how Brisbane finished 5th in 2024, but took great offence when Pies supporters kept reminding them that Carlton only finished 5th in 2023.

The standard combination of tying themselves in knots and hypocrisy.

Brisbane did finish 5th after the 2024 home and away season.

Carlton also did finish 5th after the 2023 home and away season.

Who has disputed this?

No, Collingwood had ample opportunity to finish higher, and failed miserably in that quest
[Benaud voice] "well he's asked for a review here...viewers may recall he described Carltons 2 games as gimmes for Collingwood so this shouldn't take very long. Third umpires decision on the scoreboard...."

More knot tying and hypocrisy.
No mate no hypocrisy. The ladder positions at the end of a H+A season can't be argued. Who was the best team however is based on what happens in finals. Lions best team for 2024 and won the GF pretty simple. Doesn't change the fact that they finished 5th on the ladder which stops after RD24

Point 1 - Carlton folk referencing Brisbane finishing 5th in 2024. No reference to home and away only.
Point 2 - the cartwheels Carlton folk were doing when we dared suggest Carlton finished 5th in 2023. No reference to home and away only.

Hypocrites.

Where a team "finishes" is clearly referring to the ladder which is only relevant for the H+A season. That is obvious to even the least knowledgeable footy fan.

On 2023, Carlton finished 5th on the ladder but proved themselves to be a top 4 team based on making a prelim. Finals are all that matters after all.

Because it shows that teams get unfavourable draws some years and favourable ones in other years regardless of their ladder position. Until we play a 17- or 34- game season that is always going to be the case.

There is no conspiracy as many here are implying when Carlton have been on both sides of it in recent years just like every other team. It is just blatant confirmation bias
You are getting the favourable draws as soon as it became apparent that you could be considered a contender. Prior to that you were nowhere near it so what would be the point? Your 'evidence' just supports the theory.

In no way does my evidence support your "theory" but I will never be able to change your mind. Confirmation bias is too strong

Yeah, can't recall you going down this path when the discussion about Carlton's 2023 finishing position.

Interesting. And hypocritical.
I have never argued with Carlton's ladder position. I have however said the rankings when the season is completely finished change for the top 8 based on finals performances. A team that finishes 6th and wins the GF becomes the number 1 team for that year. Doesn't change their ladder positions however

Ok, so this has come up on my feed in socials.
Pies to play sides twice who finished 5th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 14th and 15th in 2024
##Whatda****istheirproblem ??
Easy as, a few hypocrites about.
