We rested players for the Geelong game and were coming off a 4 day break, you got us at a good time, we won't be so easy to beat if we play you in finals.

Freo's highlight of the year, meanwhile we are headed for finals while Freo are headed for an early Mad Monday or Mad Mundy.
On the turps tonight, mate?

The same Geelong that just rolled the Bulldogs....The pretenders are starting to get exposed & I am with some other posters who feels the flag is coming from Geelong, the Eagles or Tigers.
I'm sorry but in what world is an 11 point win "rolling"?

You were getting belted 40 to 9, I was making a rebuttal to a post that basically insinuated you guys were untouchable, as you were being touched up.

You're not untouchable. WC & Richmond are clear frontrunners. With Geelong, Brisbane & Port Adelaide next in line, hoping either of those two slip up.

Brisbane will get exposed in the finals just like they did last year.
Rich then gee then wc,raffle the rest

Potentially, you may be correct.

But you can also use the same theory on Geelong, another team who has been constantly exposed in the finals. But this year is different, isn't it? It's always different (Yet always ends up being the same..)

WC and Richmond are currently in 4th and 5th position on the ladder respectively.

And one of the greatest sides of all time never even finished 1st in their 3 peat, what's your point here exactly. We both know Rich & WC will turn it on come finals time and that's when it truly matters.

Agreed that WCE and Richmond are front runners but I think Geelong is clearly ahead of Brisbane and Port.

As it stands right now, sure. I can see that. WCE & RICH > GEE > BRIS & PORT.

I'd also say that if we fix our goalkicking yips (Which out of the top 5, is the biggest issue plaguing any of the teams) we'd jump into the Geelong category.

In saying that, it still all just falls back to my original point, which is that any team from the top 6 (100% more likely it'll be top 5 but w/e) can win the flag and that this thread is just a dick swinging contest after each team from the top 5 wins a game.

That's merely an opinion, probably based on recent matches your team has played against those two sides.

Any team can turn it on under the right circumstances. The doggies turned it on in the 2016 finals series. I watched my team turn it on against the hawks yesterday.

Is there any reason to think Richmond and WC will turn it on in the finals? Richmond have been inconsistent and WC have struggled away from their fortress. Richmond were given a dream run in both of their premiership years, and let's not forget they played interstate teams on their home turf in both of their grand final wins.

This year will be different!

Rolling just means beating mate....Just like we rolled you blokes a few weeks ago when you were leading early also. And you will have noticed I never said anything about us being “untouchable”, we are far from it in fact, but I think we’re on the same level as the Eagles & Tigers.....We get bagged out a lot for our finals record, but when you consider we were missing all of Hawkins, Duncan & Rohan from that Prelim last year, we are well improved this year.

I'm a bit confused to what you're getting at, since you've agreed with what I said re: teams turning it on come finals time.

The reason that there is belief Richmond & WCE will turn it on come finals time is because they've done so the past few years. Both also started the season extremely poorly and have now found form heading into the last month of the regular season. The proof is in the pudding, they've already found an extra gear and they'll find another one come finals.

But that doesn't mean that any of Geelong, Brisbane or Port, on their best days, won't be able to stop them. Just means that WCE & Richmond are favoured for a specific reason.

Why are the 4th and 5th teams on the ladder considered front runners?
They're the best 2 teams in the comp by a fair margin and the season hasn't finished yet. Richmond still has to play Geelong and if they win that they'll likely take Geelong's place in the top 4

What's their recent record against WC in Perth?
The last couple of weeks, all neutral results have gone against us. As a result, we will likely have to win all our remaining games to finish 3rd or 4th. And even then, we'd have to win a qualifying final away from Perth to make the grand final. And even then, the GF would have to be in Perth. Too many slim chance variables would have to go our way for us to play a grand final in Perth vs Richmond.

Hey, if you think you're on the same level as the Eagles & Tigers, who am I to tell you that you're wrong.

In the same vain, I believe that the Lions can be the clear best team in the comp, provided we fix our goalkicking. Until we do that though, there is a reason everyone is doubting us and it's justifiable. Just like it's justifiable for people to doubt Geelong based on their past finals performances (Something that is already now being used on us funnily enough).

It's all just a matter of personal opinion at the end of the day.

Richmond won their finals at their home ground, and their only recent finals loss was against another MCG tenant. They wont be given the luxury of playing finals at the MCG this year.

WC started poorly because they were playing in QLD. Take them back to Perth and they're as good as gold.

There's nothing to suggest that either team are capable of taking home the premiership unless the circumstances are right.

Geelong are a versatile team, have many players with winning experience in tight high pressured finals games, and an ageing but freshened Gary Ablett ready to throw back into the mix. If that's not a recipe for finals success, I don't know what is.

The only scenario where they dont win is if they play Port in an Adelaide Oval grand final. otherwise, its Richmond's to lose.
If all teams were full strength I am taking both Port in Adelaide and the Lions in Brisbane before I'd want to play the Eagles in Perth.
