Something must have gone seriously wrong in your life to turn out to be a St Kilda supporter
its character building ... you can never fault a St Kilda supporter for loyalty through think and thin we support our club we certainly are not bandwagon supporters we dont have manufactured fans ... we are realist we know we are shit we know we have been shit and chances are we will be shit again we had a decade of consistant finals apperances with a superb team who ultimaltly feel short on winning a flag against two of the most formidible opponents, that generation ended and we are in the long build for the next .... the thing is while your mob are having their moment in the sun it will turn quickly the depth of players and quality of players is not there for a decade of success you are a flash in the pan you may get another shot at the flag in 2019 but your team are not going to be like the Geelongs or Hawthorns of this modern era .. it wont be long and your members will be spitting at your players again , the delivery of chicken poo will return and this quasi arrogance you tiger supporters try to push will be shown to be fake ...
Geelong fans do arrogance well with the results to back it up
Hawthorn Fans have the arrogance with the results to back it up
Richmond fans has dillusional arrogance that is comical to everyone

Richmond supporters are far more loyal than St Kilda supporters ever will, Richmond endured over a decade between finals yet still drew bigger crowds than St Kilda when they were successful, Richmond supporters live and die by their club St Kilda supporters don't

dont mistake numbers with passion or loyalty ... being a big club means you will always have numbers playing marquee games againts fellow big clubs will mean you will always have numbers ...
loyalty is rattling the tins to keep your doors open in the 80's
you wouldnt have a clue about hardship..... a decade of no finals wow hard that must have been

Yet in 1990 when Richmond went down St Kilda levels the passion and loyalty of the Richmond supporter base kept the club alive St Kilda wouldn't be able to exist without life support from the AFL

yes thank god for the support from the AFL of pushing us into Telstra Dome along with the dogs and North on a deal that financially crippled all three clubs at the height of the AFL's money making era ...
thank god for the support of the AFL giving us a fair and equal access to marquee games to build our brand...
your dark days of the 90's was nothing ... want dark days talk to hawthorn fans , talk to Melbourne fans , talk to North fans , Dogs fans ... thats struggle banding together to save your club from the verge of merge, relocation or non-existance ...
honestly Richmond fans are the most fickle fair weather fans in the land .. 100k members when you make finals 60k when you dont yeah thats loyalty ...
anyway ive wasted more than enough time interacting with you ... enjoy your christmas and good luck for 2019

Banding together to save a club from the verge of non existence? You know exactly what Richmond supporters did in 1990 and lol fickle fair weather? Lol Richmond have the most loyal supporters in the league and btw 60k is still more than what St Kilda can get even when successful

I think North 96-99 were a phenomenal side. They had skill and toughness and were incredibly hard to beat. The other one is Geelong 2007-2011. At the time I felt like we had a lot to thank Geelong for because they changed the way the game was played. From memory, we had some very dour sides winning premierships with Defence in the years leading up to 2007. Geelong were a breath of fresh air and were completely dominant and played attacking, entertaining football. It hurt my team of course but what a side they were.

The Brisbane team of 01-03 would have the game sealed before the 1st bounce. Modern day players arent putting the head over the footy if you playing that team in its Prime. Some of the hardest footballers you will ever see. Proper footballers...The scott brothers are exactly what you want your defenders to be, Voss as the captain wasnt allowing any opposition player to come in and play mental games with the young fellas...exactly what a captain should be.
God, That was a good team.

Are they as skillful as the hawks in recent time...Nope

A perfect description of our team back then, so I gave you a "like" but you actually spoilt the post with the last line!;):)

Wasn't expecting so many votes for Richmond 2017 especially when hearing the commentary about how they're the worst side to win a premiership.

Hint: There's Richmond posters on BigFooty

With all the Richmond hype, which side was actually better?

Collingwood 2010/11

Or

Richmond 2017/18

There are Crows and Power posters on here too but that doesn't explain the lack of votes for their premiership teams.
Their most recent flags are 15 and 21 years ago.

None of the teams listed would beat Richmond in 2017 if they brought that pressure again. Unplayable.

Chris Johnson would have Higgins turning a nice shade of pale white.

Voss would snap Cotchin half.

Tigers can be exposed by big KPFs & KPD's - Brown, Lynch & Bradshaw say hi, as do Leppitsch and Michael.

The running power of the Lions in Black, Lappin, Voss, Ackermanis, Caracella, Ashcroft, Hadley and Power would be hard to stop.

White and Pike (nasty, nasty man) are the icing on the cake.

Can handle pressure, as evidenced by 3 in a row as compared to a side that could only bring it once.

Not to say the Tiggers aren't a good side, but the Lions won the 3-peat with Lappin carrying broken ribs, Voss on one leg and Lynch with a sore hammie.

Lions were brutal and beautiful to watch whilst they made sides bleed.

Brissy. Tough and skilled.
Cats were like the harlem globetrotters and their best was out of this world.
Hawks triple.
In that order.

If we're going off a single season and results wise }

Essendon 2000. Only lost one game and destroyed all before them. This is a fact. But after this it gets tricky and becomes debatable. Was their best that season better than for example Geelong's of 2007 or 2011? Carlton 1995? Interesting what the hypothetical odds would be for those match up's. I emphasise hypothetical. They wouldn't be that big an underdog { Odds would be almost even in fact } We lost in 2008 to the Hawks after losing just one game before then, these sides were stronger than what the Hawks were in 2008 { Far stronger home and away seasons, certainly in 2011 and Blues 95 )

To be clear again judging off one season and results the Dons have everyone covered. Blues 95 for me with just the one loss the next best. Cats in 2007 and 2011 after them. Our side was so strong in 2009 too and lost to the Saints in that epic home and away game by a solitary goal missing a host of players.

Other factors to take into account are form. Form going into the finals, and in the finals. Brisbane went on an epic run in 2001 then swept everyone aside with ease in September. Even trailed the Dons at half time before going bonkers in the second half. That last quarter blitz on Freo where they kicked 13 or 14 last quarter goals set them up on a path of destruction. Destructing everyone in their wake. What about the great Tigers of 2017, and the unbeatable Dogs of 2016? Crazy heart and relentless pressure. West Coast 1992 were another side that weren't going to be denied. We led them by 28 points in the 2nd quarter and at that point in time were the highest scoring team in history { I think we still are }

What about rivals? How would they fare against one another? They beat each other in the 1990's era in big finals, and the year 2000 was just a year after that. A year after Carlton beat the magical Dons of 1999 from 6th place. I believe personally that the Blues outfit of 95 featuring SOS, Sticks, Diesel, Ratts, Bradley, Christou, Super-Kouta and Crou could have got the Dons of 2000. Camporeale, Madden, Clape, Pearce, Brown, Hanna, these guys were phenomenal. But that's just my opnion.

Hawthorn of 2014 like us in 2011 were playing their first season when a champion player left for another club. Hawthorn completely and utterly destroyed a red hot Sydney on the biggest stage of them all. Talking about rivals and Sydney was a side that dispatched them in 2012 when the Hawks were favoured. Hawthorn in 2013 won the flag with Buddy Franklin on their team. In 2014 they beat Sydney, their rival, with Buddy Franklin against them. The same season where they arguably lost the best player in the competition. They not only answered that challenge, but answered the challenge against their Kryptonite. Remarkable.
