Saturday night I was shattered. Gutted!

But at the start of the season most of us would have taken the position we find ourselves in.

We are still an outside chance. Get behind the Saints, Freo (Port if they can win big) and Essendon.

We are still in the hunt.

Demons the pressure is all on you!

We still have to win...

I said at the start of the season our aim should be finals. I still believe that, and if we don't make it, the season will still be a disapointment for me, given that we really should not only be in the 8, we could have been as high as forth had we not ********ed games around.

No finals = Waste of a season.

Disagree Sporty. Makes it damn disappointing to miss finals. But the club always said 8 to 10 wins this year would be deemed a success, and I agree.

10 wins for far - and everything has to be looked at against the past 2 years. The club has turned around with $20,000,000 from JH, cash from the AFL CBF, great players being blooded, a great coach and success on the field.

If we just miss it's a case of whether or not its "HALF FULL OR HALF EMPTY". I'm disappointed because i think we'll miss out. But the year is not wasted. An opportunity wasnt grabbed when it counted, but the year as a whole wasnt wasted. We've got too much out of this year to call it a waste coming off the 'Chip as Chips' era of the club which is noe a distant memory. If we don't do anything next year then i'll say it's a waste. BUt this year is the set-up for an era for this club. For me it's 'HALF FULL".

My biggest worry about not making the finals this year is if we fail to meet the higher expectation that will be placed on us and fail to acheive our goals next year. I believe that with the footy we are playing we could of given a few sides a shake up. I just hope hope that next year we take a step forward and not backwards like what always seems to happen. Logic will seem to suggest that we are dead certainties to play finals footy next year, i hope this is truly the case, baecause if we miss out next year, the hurt of the melbourne loss will be felt for a long time yet.... My good god is it normal to be still feeling shattered, absoultely shattered on a monday arvo, I mean, its only a game isn't it?

It is more than just a game Dogupya it is a religion. Yes it is perfectly normal to grieve for lengthy periods of time after such a devastating loss. In fact I think the grieving process usually takes about 7 days and usually involves copious amounts of amber fluid. This allows you to forget about the pyschological scarring that is attributed to such a loss.

Given where we are right now and games we lost, how can you not be disapointed in the fact that this year was a "development" year?

Richmond, Essendon, Sydney to name a few of the games.

I'm dispointed.

I am feeling the same level of anger and dissapoinment as I did on Saturday night.

I still can't believe it.

I thought we were past the days where we gave away games like that. I still want to think we're good, but I can't, I am scarred.

I don't want to wait until next season! I wanted finals this year! AARRRRGGGHHHHH!

Horrible feeling.

I agree about the losses and i am gutted. It's missed opportunity to play finals, no argument.

But overall - looking at all the improvements to the club in all the different areas i'd say the year has been a success - but not to the levels the NEW western bulldogs expect.

Eade has raised our expectations about our club, how many games we should win, how we go about winning and finals and success.

That's what we got out of this year which is why my expectations have risen about next year. I know we missed, but, considering we were in the last half of last year, you'd take the results this year. I'm disappointed but not expecting the same next year. I'm expecting top 6 next year at minimum. That's what happens - expectations of success - when we see our team play well, a good coach etc.

So this year builds us into next year. As sometimes happens - Melbourne the perfect example - every year under Danhier they play finals, then cellar dwellers, then top side again. And at Carlton, Pagan's second year after a 1st good one.

The loss will drive them over the pre-season and into next year. As it hurts for us, it'll hurt 100 times more for the players. If Eade can use it and harness ir right, this loss could be the catalyst for keeping us at the top of the comp for a while to come.

Fully agree. We have progressed enourmously this year in terms of improvement in a substatial number of younger players and in overall confidence in the coaches strategies and gameplans.

The last three weeks have been elimination finals for us due to other performances during the year. You cannot manufacture finals like pressure as we have had over the past three weeks and we have come through 2 of them but fallen at the final hurdle. If we would have fallen over the line against the dees then gone through the motions against Collingwood I would be concerned that the playing group would not fully appreciate how impotant every minut is over the 22 weeks H & H serires, the kick in the guts Sturday night makes that crystal clear.

I think the loss on Sat night hurts more than losing a final. I mean, if we’d gotten into the finals, if we won 1 or even if we lost in the first week and were eliminated, we would’ve all thought ‘well, it was a great ride, we won 6 in a row to get here and the boys will be better for the experience…good on them’

But now it’s such an empty feeling. I’m gutted and feel totally ripped off. I’m not saying the boys didn’t try or pointing any blame, just saying that it broke my heart when we lost on the weekend… and in the fashion we lost.

We have to turn it around this week, and I’ll expect the boys to come out breathing fire against Collingwood, because if we don’t show well Friday night it’ll be a horrible vibe to end the season on.

We’ll probably miss the finals. We probably should be in the finals. It hurts…
But we have to come out and PUMP those pies… win by 10 goals… see Johnno smiling as he slams home his 4th, watch Grant turn back the clock 5 years, see Cooney have his best game ever… and then, if we still miss out on the finals we’ll be very, very pumped for next year.

Win big boys… grab the winning feeling, bottle it and open it next year. 06 is our year… mark my words!

You just need a Grand Final win to fix up that problem.

Take one Grand Final win once a year for the next 4 years and you should be feeling better in no time.

If symptoms still persist, increase your Vitamin B (VB) levels. And see a doctor.

I agree with you on everything. Could not have said it better myself.

Well that would have been 5 premierships counting 1997.
