The Saints will have a look at him I reckon.

Not if they win the flag with Dawson in the team. Play the same FB, non-rebounding stopper role.

If they lose and Dawson gets smashed by Dawes and/or Cloke, maybe.

Maybe hope for a Collingwood win.

If no one offers anything decent keep him. He is a very solid defender. Will do his job every single week, And was finding more of the ball this year than others. Hope we dont get rid of him as we could build a really quick fast rebounding defence with him being the rock. Would rather trade McGuane and Rance.
And that drop kick Moore

Even if they do win the flag I can't see them going hammer and tong for Thursfield. They might chase him if he's going cheap, but if reports are correct that there are a few suitors, I'd expect St.Kilda to be outbid pretty comfortably.

Fair call.

Blake is another but surely he doesn't have a heap of time left unless he's younger than I think.

If he and Dawson are injured they don't have much backline depth in that defensive stopper role.

Though, even so their defensive zone is so good they have coped fine without Dawson/Blake before.

And Thirsty may not want to go there if he's just as likely to be stuck at the VFL.

Blake was older than I thought - 28.

You'd assume they'd look at a key back or two - but they've got a good one on their rookie list in Steve Gaertner.

Wasn't that Steele Sidebottom?
Vez kicked 8 in a final, I think it was the GF.

I think this is probably a good thing for us. I think Thursfield is a poor mans Dale Morris. Probably would be as good as someone like Morris if he played in a top side too. If we can trade him for Vezpremi then we are laughing.

By doing this we get rid of one of our KPD which we are overstocked and pick up a HFF in the N.Brown mould that can kick 5 goals. We really need this dangerous small..

I personally think that our FB will be Gourdis. He showed really good signs in his first year playing senior footy. Astbury also showed good signs as a CHB and these two could be our pillars for the next 10 years. Then we have Moore who is a fantastic 3rd tall, McGuane who can probably play 3rd tall and shift Moore to 4th tall or small. I think that we could still trade Rance.

Would love to see Vezpremi in a Richmond jumper or...

Upgrade pick 28 by trading 28 and Thursfield to the Hawks for 19.

Would still trade one of McGuane or Rance for a pick in the top 30.

I would prefer to get rid of one of those too and draft Seb Tape, but more likely fill anothe position.
I like Tape too. I think the Hawks would love that deal, not sure it's so great for us.

Tambling and Willy T for Veszpremi and pick 21?
I could live with that, as long as we were confident of getting the best out of Vez. We couldn't get the best out of Tambling...

So could Vezpremi though on the other hand.

If we are losing Tambling for a player who is in a similar situation but has never been gifted games and a pick at 21 I would be stoked. On trade 21 and McGuane to GC for 15 and pick up Kieren Harper....

Harper Lynch Taylor
Vezpremi Griffiths Riewoldt

Is a potent forward line to say the least...
We think alike amcre. Although I reckon McGuane plus 28 could get us 15, and keep 21 for Tape.

It was a traumatic time for me.

I'm a changed man .. I swear !

:(
:D

I would have preferred to hold onto him and offload McGuane personally. A bit disappointed on that front. Lucky we've got Gourdis and Astbury; I can seriously see those two holding the defense for 6-8 years.

Nobody should be playing unless they go out on the field bleeding Yellow and Black.

No exceptions. :thumbsu:

What are you? 12? It's not the 60s, footy is a serious career these days not just a passion. I suppose you think Gablett is a disgrace for leaving today as well?

I can guarantee you no club has a full list of players that would take a bullet (so to speak) for the club.

You wanna leave then **** off.

So everyone should play for beer money?

Nup, I undestand Will's request and in most respects suppirt it. At 24, this is a key contract for him and given the KPD interest he has an obligation to go for it.

Bit like people criticising Ottens - the Bloke had been with us for something like 8 years. And we still stank. Gotta look after #1 sometimes.

Have no problem with Ablett leaving.

Not sledging Will because of the money factor or anything like that. Im saying that if you dont want to be at Richmond, then **** off. Im glad to see the back of anybody who comes out and says they want to be moved on.

Geelong had a team of superstars that stuck together like glue between 07-09. What about Jonathan Brown refusing all the money thrown in his face from Collingwood? What about the same treatment Pavlich recieved to move to South Australia? Ill state it again. If Thursfield wants to leave, then **** off. I dont want him then. :thumbsu:

Cant support anybody who walks out on the footy club. If Thursfield wants to leave, then **** off. I dont want to keep anybody who isnt 100% motivated to play for the footy club.

It is exactly like criticising Ottens. Footy isnt about the individual, its about the team. Ottens didnt want to play for the Tigers and so I was glad to see the back of him. This revelation from Thursfield that he wants to leave is fine, I just hope they kick him out on his ass and lock the door. :thumbsu:

If we somehow managed to walk away from trade week with:
Pick 6, 15, 21, Veszpremi & Sherman for McGuane Thursfield Tambling 28 & 45, would it be considered a good week or a bad week?

:)TOTALLY agree .... we aren't some fallback option that you half commit to if you can't find somewhere better.
You are either with us or against us .... simple really!

In response to UpTheGuts ... Thursty ain't paying for beer money .... he gets paid a decent wage.

I doubt he is going to get paid much more - if any - elsewhere.

He's sized up the situation and realises that Astbury and Gourdis - and to a lesser extent Grimes - are going to be given plenty more opportunities, while Moore is going to be a regular, McGuane as well.

I see why he wnats out - and luck to him. But if he's not committed, good riddance.

Yes, it ain't the 70s, but guess what, we wouldn't tolerate this in the 70s. We were ruthless and we won by being that way!

FFS Goldy, it's obvious Thursty has been told he'll struggle to get a game and 'encouraged' to seek a trade.

Good. I'm still hoping we'll get 15 for McGuane on his own. :)

Looks good to me personally. But losing two key defenders would hurt a little. We should probably hold onto McGuane now unless we get something good from the Gold Coast.

Veszpremi and Sherman cant play as key defenders. :thumbsu:

6, 15, 21, 28 Sherman & Vezspremi for Tambling McGuane Willy T & 45 would have me doing cartwheels. :D

all good through my little eye

and we're back where we started with a midget playing as a tall in defence. FFS
How do you work that out? Astbury has shown he can handle CHB, while Gourdis is a good option at FB for the time being.
