First things that come to mind, didn't end up saying much for most teams haha
  1. Adelaide - pretty bad
  2. brisbane - quiet but decent
  3. Carlton - unmitigated disaster
  4. Collingwood - understandable they didn't do much
  5. Essendon - understandable they kept him, but can't know until next year
  6. Fremantle - did really well if you take the players who wanted to leave as given
  7. Cats - did really well, pushed for the most on all deals
  8. gold coast - so-so
  9. giants - so-so
  10. hawks - quiet but good
  11. dees - i didn't like the pick swap but the trades were good. should take Jack Martin in the PSD for nothing
  12. North - great pick swap and late trade for Bonar
  13. port - strange they traded howard
  14. tigers - understandably quiet
  15. Saints - top work
  16. Swans - I think it will work out for the best that they didn't get daniher, i would have traded apply though if they could have got 9
  17. West Coast - paid a bit much but not the end of the world
  18. Dogs - played it perfectly

Dogs big winners you’d think.

If you asked yourself at the start what would Bulldogs need that would be a mature plug and play kpf and a mature plug and play kpd to add to a finals side and strong midfield.

They got both but kept pick 13.

Yep. Just like us. Kept their 1st pick, got points for the F/S (Academy in dogs case), addressed two needs at either end and lost nobody of note.

Everyone rates the period differently but Im chuffed with the Hawks.

Jenkins and Stevens is longterm?

They are still going for a flag in 2020.

Of course but they got those players for cheap. Essentuly swapped Zac Smith for Stevens. Any club would do that. And still have a ton of picks before 35.

As a Geelong supporter I am happy. Could have been a lot worst.

Stevens was a bargain but Jenkins cost a 2nd.

Are Geelong rebuilding or contending? Can't do both.

And got a future 3rd. They lose ten spots or something basically.

And why can’t Geelong do both? Been doing it for years . As have the eagles. When did the eagles bottom out for a long period of time? People have been predicting Geelong to plummet and they haven’t. In the age of free agency, I am fully convinced that you can do both.

Saints the big winners getting all 5 players they were linked to.

I think Fremantle did quite well despite the players they lost. Fremantle have brought in some decent young players plus they added a stack of picks in the next two drafts.

WB:

IN: Bruce, Keath, 2020 Rd 3 pick
OUT: pick 32, pick 45, pick 51, 2020 Rd 2 pick

Two players you'd expect to slot into the 22 in, at worst a future pick in the 20s out.

GWS:

IN: pick 6, future 4th
OUT: pick 12, pick 18, Jonathan Patton (salary dump)

Into the top 6 in the draft after making the GF, got Patton where he wanted to go and shored up their salary cap position.

Props to GC also. Didn't accept a dud trade for Martin, re-signed King and resisted any temptation to trade picks 1 and 2 for magic beans.

I don't think WC, Geel, St Kilda, Freo etc. are clear winners or losers because they all had valuable assets in play.

Freo probably did the best in terms of improving their draft position but lost Brad Hill and Ed Langdon in the process. That's 3 and 5 from the B&F gone and Mundy finished 4th and is 34 years old.

Geelong's trade week is interesting. Got more picks than I thought they would for Kelly (I expected our best 2 or 3 picks, not all of our picks) then added Steven for nothing and Jenkins for a bit more than nothing. I can only assume St Kilda aren't paying for Steven next year while Adelaide are for Jenkins. They'll be a 10-16 win side next year, they always are.

Not really sure what's cooking down at Ikon Park. Linked to a bunch of players, didn't really land any of them.

Hawthorn get a D- from me this year. Patton for pick 900 rustled some jimmies but they have fallen away from the glory years of O'Meara, Scully and Wingard which genuinely slowed down the D&T board refresh rate.
