With Judd, where do Carlton fans expect to finish in 2008?

Does it have to be Carlton fans?

I think they will improve alot. Judd and Stevens into the midfield, allowing young Murphy to develop without close attention. Further development from other young players.

The problem is their defence leaks goals and still will. I reckon a finish from 9-12 is most likely.

I expect the Blues to have a bit of a slow start to the year, still learning to work around the new midfield set up (Judd, possibly Hadley and a returning Stevens) with a new coach in Ratten, and then really hit their straps at the business end of the year, finishing 9th or 10th, with about 10-11 wins for the year.

Anything else is a bonus.

They've won 28 of the last 132 games, C. Judd is 1 footballer, they still have 21 ordinary footballers on there list !!!

Carlton will now have one of the best midfields (Judd, Stevens and Murphy) however with only one key forward (Fev) they will still struggle. They are also short down back. I would expect them to improve (10th perhaps) but losing Kennedy will hurt them over the next few years until they find a replacement.

I'm not expecting a whole lot.

Some people said St.Kilda would miss the 07 finals as a result of adjusting to a new coach (Lyon)

So wouldn't we expect the same kind of thing of Carlton? But then we consider player development, judd, stevens back...

I'd think anywhere between 10-14.

Of course, severe injuries or a great run with injuries could see that give 1 or 2 positions either way.

Who knows.

I'd be shocked if they did make the 8.

Top of the bottom 8.

Judd will be great for them......but he is only one. But the rest will lift. Expectation will be high.

Pratt will fix it, one way or another!!

Fact: Having Collingwood on your profile means you have zero football credibility. It's a pre-requisite to becoming a Pies fan.

Ma va fa in golo,

you carlton boys have been rolling around in S**t for the last 6 years now your disalutioned with a bit of good news!!!

prepare yourself for another long year boys !!!!

The wild card in all of this, is the state of Judd's groin. Does he have Osteitis Pubis? Even if surgery fixes the problem, he is going to have an interrupted pre-season.

The other thing to consider is the time it will take for Carlton to learn how to integrate Judd into their line-up. After Judd won the Brownlow, teams started tagging him heavily and it took a while for West Coast to develop counter strategies. It could take Carlton a while to do the same.

IMHO, they won't do much in 2008. Expect much bigger things in 2009 though.
