Since the first pick seems inevitable now. Who should we take with the number 1 pick. Naitanui to be the 2nd ruck option behind Cox since we dont use Seaby anymore. The only bad thing about him at this stage is that he seems a bit of a maverick. Or do we take Rich to bolster the midfield stocks. He looks a ready made player.

Im guessing that we would take a WA boy over any other state so that knocks out another of the few boys who are being potentially named as number 1 picks.

But either way, its seems that our midfield could look good for your next tilt at a premiership.

well the real question should be this, what is Mark Seaby's future at WCE?

if Seaby goes then we should seek Naitanui, if he stays then go the little fella...

Exactly. We need a gun midfielder, Rich is our man. However for some reason i think we will take Natinui with Pick 1 his potential will be too much to pass up on by our recruiting staff.

It doesnt matter where we, freo or melb finish up. We all want different players.

WC - Rich
Freo - Nat
Melb - Watts

I'm in the diminshing Naitanui camp. Rich is near guaranteed to be a very very good player, but that level of player can be snagged later in drafts with a bit of luck. If we want a player as good as Naitanui could become, we'll never get it without a pick in the top 5 or so (and we're hopign that we're not going to be getting a lot of them in the next few years).
Plus I think Naitanui could be of more value to us even in the first year. Rich is more AFL-ready, but imagine what one or two freaky Naitanui highlights would do for the players that have got into a habit of dropping their heads this year - much more than 10 bullet-like deliveries into the forward 50.
Naitanui would provide spark which is what we need more than anything else right now.

Daniel Rich will be the closest thing to top 5 in the Brownlow after 3 or 4 years in the system since Judd & Hodge were drafted.

The only other one I would want at pick #1 is Jack Watts, closest thing to Franklin/Riewoldt or Fev to come through the draft since 04.

I would love to have Watts but it depends if he actaully wants to move to Perth. He has said that he will stay in melbourne next year to complete his VCE.

I can't remember a time where there could potentially be 4 different blokes that could go number 1. Its become so rediculous that i almost have no preference out of Hurley, Watts, Naitanui and Rich. All look like they are going to be great.

Rich for mine. Naitanui is tremendously athletic but I wouldn't want to risk the #1 draft pick on someone who doesn't know the game. He may learn it, but Rich is a natural footballer and a much safer bet for the lowest pick.

If Kerr wanted to leave that would be a great trade for us but would Melbourne do it?
Don't know

You'd think Kerr alone is worth a Top 5 and probably a Top 10 to 15 pick.

Morton was #4

Our plus is that really advances our rebuilding stage.

Melb plus is that it gives them 2 x ready made players, in the guts. On the negative, Nik Nat could be the "franchise" type player they are looking for.

Edit: Pick 20 gets traded away for a middle of the range, experienced player, ala Travis Johnstone type.

PSD: Here's hoping we become ruthless and use this to our advantage and shaft another club... ie Farren Ray for free.

On the EFH website, someone mentioned that Jackovich on the radio or tv was asked who WC were trying to get, he was reluctant to reveal his sources but said that WC were targetting Rich in an attempt to replenish the midfield. Did anyone see or hear this? Hopefully its true, we need Rich and some other gun midfielders.

He was asked while commentating the Freo Game on TV today. He did sound reluctant to answer but whether that was because he was just taking an educated guess, or that he didn't want to let too much information out I'm not sure.
