With our 1st pick......

You'd think a pacy and skillful midfield like Rich is what we'll go for but I guess that might not happen. Really depends where we end and whos available.
Geez, talk about sitting on the fence.

I reckon you can narrow down a fair bit.

We'll finish 15th or 16th and will pick Rich or Natanui.

I think we'll go for rich and that would be my pick, but I won't cry if we take someone else. I back our recruiting department to pick the best available every time, their record is superb

LTAM and others in the know, is it possible that Jack Watts is being over-rated? I've never watched the kid live, but he seemed a bit of a bolter from the unknown, hadn't heard much talk about him before the champs.

It's just with MacDougall's retirement this week I was thinking if Watts, and others, were in the same boat and being hyped up based on a few good games at the right time?

Did I hear correctly that Watts is actually only 188cm, with a big jump and great grab?

If so, he'd want to grow another 6cm or more to be a genuine AFL kpp threat over the long term.

chrsco, Watts was juggling footy and high level basketball (had an AIS scholarship for basketball and was considered one of the best point guard prospects in the country) last year. He gave up his AIS basketball scholarship this year to focus on footy.

Genesis67, Watts is currently listed at 194cm.

OK, thanks TBU, so he's been rated for a while, just "hidden", like a Mitch Marsh I guess?

Watts is going to be something great. He is faster over 20m than everyone from last years draft, can take a great grab and is tall. He's got it all. The club that ends up with him will be very happy imo and i wouldn't mind it too much if that was us.

He's a bottom age player who has only just qualified for this years draft. As a KPP its harder to make a rep when your so young but Watts has been acceptional of late.

WC just lost Judd and Cousins. It would make sense to get Rich. Anyone who's seen the way Rich kicks it would want him in their side. Nat looks unco in comparison.

He missed a bit of rep footy through injury (U16s last year with a collarbone injury) and has played school footy (APS) rather than TAC cup (made his TAC Cup debut this year). If you search back through the bigfooty archives on him from last year you'll find there are a fair few that rated him highly (sportz1 said he was the no. 1 U16 prospect in Victoria last year), although interestingly the 2008 AFL Prospectus didn't include him in their top 25 prospects.

Definetely not over rated - awesome lateral movement (something West Coast rate very highly) and his leads are as fast as you will ever see - Riewoldt, Franklin, Fevola level of pace on the lead. He is an absolutely thumping kick for such a skinny bloke too, you add that to the marking and the sidestep through traffic and you have close to a complete package key forward.

Nope - genuine 6'4 key forward with a big frame

come on guys - you know how much I rate Rich

even I would take Watts before him, unless he expressly says no interstate clubs and he comes across ok in the character test then he is the #1 draft pick.

seems our South African friends have their own idea as to who should be our number 1 pick...

:D

Cant do that. Mind you, being bottom aged, he can just not nominate.

Kennedy and Watts in the forward line. Swift with the PP. Hmmm....

If Watts drops out this draft we can get rich and then get Watts next year.

God heaven forbid another year like this year, but if we only win 4 games next year, wouldn't we have pick 1 and 2 in the draft?

Watts 1. Kane Lucas 2 ?

definately a midfeilder
we lost judd, Cousins and Rojo and replaced with masten ebert and mcginnity.

Were about to lose Braun and fletcher plus?

We have a lot of Talls on the list
