If your claiming the "good-natured, affectionate, nostalgic ribbing" defence then you certainly should be willing to say it to the guys face.
Oh in that case, no I'm not, didn't realise you were talking about that. My mistake.

Never said we should revere any of our old players but this thread clearly crosses the line and clearly does not match with your "good-natured, affectionate, nostalgic ribbing" claim. Do you really think any of the players listed would take it that way? Why don't you let them know that you think they are one of the worst players to have ever played for the Bulldogs next time you see them show up at WO and see whether they take it as good natured ribbing.

I certainly wouldn't hesitate to say anything I say on these forums to a players' face. In fact I have said some of those things to players' faces before. And I think you are right about how they take it. My personal experience of players is that they tend to take criticism - light-hearted or otherwise - quite poorly.

I guess I come from a fairly rough-and-tumble industry where you get slaughtered both behind your back and to your face regularly, so I'm pretty easygoing about this kind of thing. (It might also be why I sometimes play pretty hard on these forums ;) )

Oh well - each to their own! :thumbsu:

I'm sure the people who are coming out saying that there shouldn't be a thread like this, are the sames ones clamouring for Howard and Goodes to be delisted, bashing Cooney for his effort on the weekend etc.

There is no instance of a player that a true Bulldogs fan hates and doesn't want to succeed (except perhaps Josh Hill, and I think we all know why) but this thread is just a bit of fun and reliving some memories that don't get brought up often, as usually we like to bring up the glorious memories.

Speaking of Josh Hill. Does anyone have "that footage" from the Geelong game. Trying to quantify why I hate him so much to non-bulldog mates.

I remember Chris Grant being so critical and savage about it which is something Granty doesn't do normally. When you make the great man that angry you probably don't deserve to put on the jumper.

Just on Josh - by no means our worst ever player - he is languishing in the WAFL this year. Has only had 4 games (and 3 goals) in a side that is struggling to keep in touch with the top eight.

Fading into obscurity.

Easy - Jade Rawlings.

Took the big bucks, then preceded to be the worst set shot in club history and generally act like a spoilt brat because he didn't get to play with his bro. Absolute rubbish.

Glad to see the back of him.

I see what you did there! You changed his name from King, to Queen, insinuating that he is a woman! Comedy genius. Absolute genius.

I know!!!

One of my best don't you think??

I actually tinkered with it for a week or so and came up with that as a final quip

I'm pretty happy with the outcome and rather apt I think you will agree ;)

I don't know about that one. He has been very good in the VFL for us and was probably one of the best on ground in that VFL GF. At AFL level he when he has played has a lot to improve on but nonetheless has shown some good signs. Lots of potential there so too early to judge.

Agree...I think many will eat their words after the 2015 season. Jong has shown more improvement than anyone in a short period of time. Genuinely excited about his upside if he can continue to improve his disposal further. Certainly has the power and acceleration to be a great clearance player.....and he's tough.

Many? I don't think many is the right word. A lot of people have high hopes for him and think he can make it, he's shown crazy amounts of improvement to becoming the best VFL player over the finals series.
