Freo will have Amiss, Treacy, Jackson/Darcy. I suspect if Francis plays well shortly that he'll be in the frame. I don't think we should leave Fox out though.

Is hamling hurt?

Did someone bemoan our lack of Clamps this week? Well have no fear, we have found the new clamps, Jordan. He has the added bonus of bringing much better skills and can do more than just lock down. Melbourne must be kicking themselves for letting him go.
Completely took Whitfield out of it and hurt them the other way too. Really liking Jordon.

Basically Jordan is a Stephens+Clarke played combined in one but vastly superior.

The type of player you can achieve success on.

Only negative is T Mac

Paps quiet again I guess
Paps quiet is a positive IMO. If someone said before the game we'd piss it in with Paps having another quiet game in those conditions we'd all have thought they were crazy.

Great team performance. Aside from about 10 minutes in the first quarter, we completely outplayed them the entire game.

Would have loved Hayward to get the medal. But that is probably the reality of midfielders being around the ball all the time.

Playing today, just think Francis has been in decent form.

Fair

I dont mind Francis, Hamling might have some comfort playing his former side though, and slightly taller, that whole 2cms

I know I've run out of sub options now, Jordon was good again. There's no-one in the 23 today that I would be comfortable being the sub, they all deserve to start.

Geelong is the real test for that toughness for mine. They definitely won't be playing the team of kids they bullied in 22 next time around.

Yep needed to see a game like today to judge this side tough conditions in a tough contested slog and we excelled.

Most of that team has another ~50 games under their belt since that flogging.

Was closely watching when they got out to a near 3 goal lead in the 2nd we responded magnificently.

Amartey kicked a goal and missed one, but he doesnt do enough often enough

Only fox had less game time and only just, we are carrying him in terms of workrate and just presence, he sits more often than he is out there almost
Hopefully Buller sees an opportunity. If he can offer more, he has a spot in the team.

Till then, it’s Joel.

One of our very best wins. We were toying with them for basically the whole second half despite what the scoreboard says. Had them rattled and all out of sorts. And they're a good side. There's not much of a greater endorsement for our quality than doing that to an opponent.

Hayward was our BOG for mine, because his goals and pressure felt like both the difference in quality early on, and then the difference in scoreboard later on as we started to kick away a bit.

Grundy was also amazing in an old-fashioned ruckman way - quality tap work and then gritty follow-up, as shown by his tackles.

Rampe, Heeney & Rowbottom were all amazing.

McLean is our best tall right now and got better as the game went on. Melican continues to impress (so happy for him). And Lloyd is building really nicely on the wing.

And we did all of this with pretty underwhelming performances from a number of players (though even the worst had their moments.)

****ing ecstatic and proud.

that's how i felt ... i thought we pretty much controlled from early third quarter, we always had an answer, every time they came at us ... under the circumstances, to think we should've been 2-3 goals further in front at least
i also think the mccartin incident might've had a real uniting, galvanising effect

and on lloyd, i've been a critic ... but that was his best game in a while

Yep unless we go 2 talls and Parker in of course, (dont see it)

I don't think Joel was as bad as some, but I'd love to see Buller kick a bag and start banging on the door. Give selectors some other options (though today's conditions could have warranted one less KPF completely).

Want to give a bit of love to Adams. I thought he was excellent all day, got under every contest, did the unsung dirty work and got he ball moving our way time after time.
For sure. One of those players you have to watch closely to appreciate. I said last week I think he's the best player we have at extracting the ball from a pack so the game today suited his skills perfectly.

It's going to be an uphill battle for him to retain his spot when both mills and Parker are back but he's doing enough at the moment.

Think he is keeping Parker out, and the way he frees up Warner and Gulden is impressive

Mclean deserves some love too.
when he rucks we dont suddenly lose it, and he works hard, Feel like he reads it well, lowers the eyes, has developed into a smart efficient player imo

I trust him

If we didn't do it today, I don't see it happening.

Yep so I think the reality is on current form Parker is in the VFL. He was looking slower last year, he will find it hard to get back for a while unless there is a drop in form or injury.

Mills would be in before him if both fit

He is having a terrific year. Definitely a confidence player - but when he is playing well, invariably the Swans are playing well. Has been great all season, but super today in tough conditions not necessarily suited to his style of footy. Like many of his team mates, 2024 is proving the year where a lot more of his tackles 'stick' - that strength challenge many of our younger players were facing is disappearing.

So many big winners on the day out there for us - a really solid, all round team performance.

mcinerney is as tough as they come, he's just not built to look tough ...
he's like an old rag with a knot in it ... a dog could chew on it for half an hour and it'd still be the same
