Not sure having an extra ruck to cover the byes is a good thing. Your going to miss out on points in other positions as it forces you to have players like Darling higgins and Grimes who are pretty ordinary at best. No Mitchell or Mcveigh in the backs is a concern too. If i was going to pic 3 rucks though Jacobs wouldnt be one of them that for sure

+1. I'd rather take Dixo (instead of Jacobs) or Hale (instead of Lobbe) if you're desperate for cover, that way you can swing them forward to cover that spud Higgins.

Tough call. If you pull off Hawkins/Higgo combo you'd be a genius.

Bartel, as I'm sure others have said, is a risk at premo price. Look for a few Cats to be playing different roles, Bartel being the main one.

First thing... I may be wrong, but I think you might like to start Macrae on the field!

I think you are really lean in the mids. Having Murphy at M2 and Daisy at M4 is not a good thing. I know you are trying to save money in the mid line to be stronger elsewhere, but you will honestly fall really far behind early on and find it hard to peg back the points. I personally have neither of these 2. I do not rate Murphy at all. With Judd down he will continue to struggle. He will cop the #1 tag and scores will reflect this. I know some die hard Carlton fans, eg. Gingy etc will try and say different, like he has always had the number one tag. Honestly though that is crap, it has always gone to Judd.

Wright will no doubt be the tagger this year with VB down. Don't be fooled by his NAB cup showing.

Naitanui yet to play a game yet. He is a great pick... if fit. I would be pretty cautious with him right now. They have a relatively easy draw at the start so I would not be surprised to see him not start round 1.

Not a bad start. How much do you have left in the bank?

Down back: Laidler would be a worry even getting a game let alone starting on the field... Try clurey as a down grade option or even Shaw if you have the cash

Mids: Polec, Ellis and Michie is a risk but I've done something similar so don't mind it (risk v reward). Think about down grading one or two to rookies and the other up to daisey

Rucks: Will work as long as sandy stays fit

Forwards: I'm not a fan of multiple key forwards... I'd move one on for a ball magnet like zorko (I cant believe I just wrote his name) Mitchell, Gray, Parker...

I have Langford and Georgiu. Still not sold on Langford. Georgiu still a rookie I thought.
S Loyd, I think may be a better chance at a game than the other tiger rookie up forward.
Good overall.

Try this on for size, when the rookies peek I can trade 2 for 1 when upgrading and get the next best rookie before there price rise and with so many DPP in the FWD & DEF can get any rookie for the position that will make the most coin. Plus they are all premo mids any way

You have Duffield. YOu should unregister for Supercoach immediately as clearly you are wasting your time. On a serious note, I know all the good rookies are in the mids this year, but anything less than 4 mid premo's at the start and you will be leaving yourself too much ground to make up. Ditch the duffman, move Mcdonald to defence and bring in D Beams to strengthen your mids. (IMO of course)

I actually have $265k in the bank still. But to be honest, I'm not trying to save money. I'd like to have say $80k left over if I need to make a couple of correction trades or a have disastrous injury start to the season. That leaves me with another $180k to trade up a bit if need be. If Georgiou doesn't get promoted its looking like he'll become Laidler.

I personally would go for Lobbe over Ryder. Tough call though. Bellchambers missing early probably means higher scores for Ryder, but the same goes for Lobbe with Redden missing first two months. I am steering clear of bombers players until we know for sure that none are facing infraction notices.

With this team I'm reasonably strong all over the ground with the majority of my rooks in the mid.

I really like this team but if it was mine I'd go:

Enright->Suckling

Leunberger -> Lobbe or other cheaper ruck around that price

Tyson -> Rockliffe or other premo mid

But it's all a matter of balance I suppose and your side does look pretty well balanced. I just like starting with 5 premo mids to score you the big points. Also I don't trust many of the forward or back premos so feel it's a good idea to wait until a few rounds in and see who's scoring well or try to pick up a bargain.
Anyway, good side!
