Your bogey team and the team you have the wood over

even though we haven't lost to them since early 2005 i would say essendon is still our bogey team. in 2007 we almost threw away a 60 point lead and even though buddy kicked 9 this year the bombers fans said he was outpointed by ryder (go figure).

and hawthorn won't lose to carlton any time soon, even when the blues start improving i think we will own them for a long time

Just because you have beaten us 6 or 7 times in a row extremely easily doesnt mean you have the wood over us. It just means that Mick Malthouse has some incrediby incriminating photo's of Paul Roos :D
what the hell do they think over there in sydney???
someon please!!?

you could not be more wrong.

ownerships in the AFL;

1. St Kilda v Carlton
2. Collingwood v Sydney
3. Brisbane v Fremantle

Adelaide's ownership of Sydney is a little better than the Pies. The Crows have beaten the Swans in 9 of the last 10, Collingwood 7 of the last 10.

For those North supporters asking about the last time you beat the Crows, it was rnd1 2004. Adelaide has beaten North in 8 of their last ten meetings.

Another interesting one from a few years ago - Melbourne would consistently beat the Sydney Swans at the SCG, and the Swans would always defeat the Demons at the MCG.

Recently this unusual trend has been broken due to the success of the Swans and the struggles faced by the Dees - as well as the fact that these teams tend to play in Canberra now - but it stands as a rare example of teams having the wood on each other at the opponent's home ground.

I think a current streak of 3 wins or more (especially if over a number of years) would give a mental adavantage as some players may never have experienced a win against certain teams (+ it is interesting to see how long it will continue). This seemed to be the case for Hawthorn against Essendon a couple of years back (Ess won 10 in a row)

For my club, we have a few at the moment...

Essendon - 6 games
Carlton - 5 games
Collingwood - 3games
West Coast - 3 games
Adelaide - 3 games
Brisbane - 3 games
Melbourne - 3 games

What are the others (from other clubs)? - Just fascinated to see if they continue

Bogey Team- Demetriou and Anderson (for making us play Sydney and Brisbane away every year. Finally the favour is restored in 2009)

Wood- Carlton (9 wins from the last 10) and West Coast:D

Very clear cut with the Swans - Both Collingwood and Adelaide pants us each and every time we play them.

Brisbane would be the team we seem to have the wood over. I know Carlton and Richmond haven't beaten us for a long time, but they've been at the wrong end of the ladder for all of that time. We were competitive against Brisbane even when they were at their peak.

Wood - Brisbane and Essendon (combined, they have only beaten us once since 2005)

Bogey - I reckon Adelaide, from memory we have beaten them only once in a given set time, but theres been alot of thumpings from this mob as well. :thumbsu:

Bogey: West Coast

Wood: North melbourne
For Adelaide, I'd say

Wood over: Sydney, Kangaroos and perhaps Richmond.
I'd alsmost claim Melbourne as well, but I seem to recall more than one narrow loss to them when we should have won.

Bogey sides: West Coast, Collingwood and Essendon when playing in Melbourne.

bogey:
north
st kilda before (finals)
richmond (not really bogie but do worrie most of their games)
sydney (before this year)

wood:
geelong (when it counts)
carlton

in my mind these 2 are pretty clear cut:

Bogy side- North Melbourne, god i hate these p***ks!!, always lift against us for some unknown reason which i cant comprehend.

Wood Over- No contest... Geelong. Yes i know you guys may think it was only the grand final we beat them but in round 17 we should have beaten them and we were the only side not to lose to them in 07. But it goes further than that. Even in Geelong's good years and our so-so years we have beaten them ( 92 (twice) 94 and 95 all years they made the grand final. Still remember all those close games we won at kardinia in the 90s. In finals Geelong has beaten us once and that was nearly 50 years ago. Clearly they are our bitches.
