Prediction Changes v Collingwood (Round 2)

Duryea’s performance was concerning first up - can’t remember seeing him have a poorer game. Lost all 3 one-on-one contests he was involved in and had 5 turnovers from 10 disposals. Not writing him off yet, but the end can come quickly for blokes his vintage

He’s been cooked for about 3 years but keeps managing to come back from it with great form.

I do agree that the time is now closing in fast but we need him to hang on for one more season.

Maybe I’m crazy but I think a midfield of Xerri, LDU, Sheezel, Powell, Parker and Zurhaar is better than one made up of Cameron, Perryman, Lapinski, Crisp, Daicos and Sidebottom.

Daicos is by far the best player among them but I think Xerri is well clear as the 2nd most influential. The north mids are fast compared to the pies.

If we can tag Daicos effectively, I think our midfield will actually be much more competitive than last week.

It’s the pies defense that worries me. Can we find enough goal kickers?
De Goey back this week changes the complexion a lot.

I'm also worried about Jamie Elliott. Duryea looked a step behind the play last weekend. He's the exact type that kills us.

Bevo wont play a tag on Daicos, rarely ever does use players to tag.
We played Gags as a run-with quite a few times last year. I'd be surprised if we don't have a plan for Daicos.

In the game at Marvel late last season do you remember if that was the case? Daicos still racked up plenty of possessions but I cant recall if Bevo did try a tag on Daicos?

I'm fairly sure we were all bemused by Gags getting CBAs if I'm thinking of the same game?

In an ideal world Garcia would come in for a job on Daicos, but he's just had one surgery. Perhaps Harmes gets the role? He's a team first type who gives his all. Did get CBAs last week and had a brilliant pre-season by all accounts.

I think this is the game where injuries/depth catch up with us. I'm really not confident.

Gallagher got absolutely torched by Daicos in a run with role.

Can someone tell me the difference between "run-with role" and "tagging"? I don't watch footy shows as obsessively as some here* so it escapes me. I can have a guess at what the difference (if any) might be, but it's only a guess. Is it a distinct difference, a nuanced meaning of the same thing ... or exactly the same thing?

Supplementary question: do the people in the media who use these terms apply them consistently with the right meaning?

It sounds a bit suss to me.
Like the difference between a muscle tear/strain/tweak/awareness. They are all damage to muscle fibres but can be different grades. The "awareness" term seems designed for public statements/interviews and IMHO is quite rightly mocked.

* In fact I don't watch them at all :)

I wouldn't be mad at Richards head to head like he did with Warner in the first half of the Sydney game until he got injured

No one will be able to individuality stop Daicos racking it up, make him accountable the other way
I wouldn't have any one player along side him all day. I'd also have Richards focus more purely on offencive play atleast until Bont and Treloar return. Rotating Libba, Kennedy and Harmes on him would be my plan A.

I’ve never quite seen a redemption arc quite as fascinating as Rory Lobb.
its a shame the rest of the AFL world hasnt seen the redemption arc on and off the field, cause alot of oppo fans still seem to have this weird vendetta against him and think he is a horrible bloke when in reality dude seems like a great bloke and ive said in other threads i wouldnt be surprised if he is in our leadership group next year

The lobster finally found his rock. It has movie written all over it. Some inexplicably tall guy plays Rory. No one is good enuff to play Bont .... over to you AI.

Thought we'd be getting teams tonight considering it's a Friday game?
Friday - Sunday teams get announced Thursday night (extended squads only for Sunday, then final Sunday squad gets announced on Friday). Only Thursday games get announced on Wednesday. Nothing new.

It's a little nuanced in my view. Tag has a harder more brutal stop at all costs edge to it whereas run with implies accountability....that is to say we know you can attack very effectively when you have the ball ... I'm here to inconvenience you in attack and make you defend in equal measure and drain your tank for the pointy bit ... if possible.

Yeah hard tag vs just playing defensively on someone

Supplementary question:
Mr Speak Up: The right honourable member for Cannnnbrah has a supplementary question. I'll allow it.
do the people in the media who use these terms apply them consistently with the right meaning?
Mr Speak Up: Order ... order!!!!

Mr Speak Up: If the member for Canbrahhhh could save his editorial we might get a response in ...I'll throw the honourable members question to the floor

The Member for Stoat Gobbler: Mr Speak Up if I might respond?

Mr Speak Up. The member for Stoat Gobbler.

The Member for Stoat Gobbler: Mister Speak Up, if it pleases the Dog House, I'd like it noted that I find the Honourable member's question rhetorical.

Mr Speak Up: Duly noted

Thanks, pretty much as I thought.
Yeah hard tag vs just playing defensively on someone
Ah yes, hard tag, presumably to distinguish it from run-with, yeah?

(I will now resume my seat)
