Agreed. Luke Darcy is actually a pretty good commentator.

Darcy and Richo are both far better in BT’s absence than they are when they join in with his dickheadedness. Bennett and Darcy called a game recently that was really well done.

Hats off to Dylan Moore - just absolutely everywhere in our forward half, 9 score involvements overall and just never stops trying to make an impact.

Yep I think a 🌟 is born some of his handballs to teamates came from nowhere, ran 14.8 ks lead total sprints with 25 and 10 repeat sprints that's work ethic right there

Unsure if it was discussed in the game day thread as I was enjoying things too much to go near my phone. Is it a very deliberate tactic that we don’t allow the ball to stay on the ground? I noticed if the ball hit the deck that someone would either put their body over it or strike at it and kick it forward. Unsure if this was a tactic catered for Port as I didn’t note it at the game last week. Seemed to be far more kicking the ball off the ground than usual.

He's become an elite player in that roaming half forward position. It's indisputable. Such a gun.
Edit: Pretty sure his breakout game was on the AO a couple years back so it's fitting that things have come full circle

I thought Hardwick was extremely underrated. Hardly got beaten all game, went to SPP in the last and kept him almost completely out of it.

That sequence I think in the third quarter where he somehow got an arm in to punch the ball out of a Port forward marking it and did it all without giving away a free was just superb.

While our youth is getting the attention tonight. I thought out senior players were also outstanding. McEvoy, Mitchell, O'Meara, Gunston and Breust were all great it shows the value of having awesome established players to help bring on the next generation

Which of our B grade, not good, shithouse youngsters would Kane Cornes like the most at PA?

Well, that made for a pleasant evening.

Defence, superb.
Midfield, better, still work to be fine, but doing ok
Forward line, superb. How nice is it seeing forwards lead at the ball carrier?
Actually looks like it’s working. There’s SPACE!!

We made a heap of errors, but that’s fine. We’re trying to attack.
So much to like
We are definetly still working on our execution (although tonight was pretty good) but I think if you take the game on, move the ball with intent and try to score it rattles the opponent.

All of 2020 and first half of 2021 I reckon teams coming up against the Hawks would be like, "okay the Hawks will be well drilled and execute their defensive game plan. It wont be pretty but we should still beat them as long as we score over 10 goals"

Now teams should be worried, be like coming up against a boxer who is trying to knock your block off in the first round. Like I said, unsettling!

I enjoyed that game soo much!

So much fun watching the kids just take the game on and the older guys just adding class.

And I am back to having to apologise to neighbours for me carrying on like a clown at the tv

Changing ya tune yet boss .
We still have a long way to go we still need 7 A Graders, 4 brownlow medallists and a coleman medallist before we can think of making the top 6

I am still a bit bewildered with the dismantling we handed Port tonight. In the end they gave up because we broke them.

I expect to have crapper weeks during the season as younger boys will vary in their effort and output during the year.

But our recruiting has been top notch for a few years now. The outsiders can shit talk all they like about the quality of our youngsters. We will just continue doing what this club has done for decades.

Go hawks

I’m loving the positivity after an absolute belting like that. I just hope it’s not setting our expectations too high, and we quickly become toxic when, inevitably we get touched up in a few games along the way.

But what a pretty faultless game. Couldn’t pick a bad player out of anyone, all played their role and honestly I’d say all beat their men. They might’ve had us statistically, but where it mattered we were infront by a long, long way!
