Definitely the time to raise that narrative is now after we took a 19 year old mid who could easily play AFL in the second half of the year, not last year when North used their first pick on a skinny project ruck who stayed on to finish school.

Especially after they changed the rules so there wasn't a repeat of the Newcombe/Hawthorn situation.

Regardless of what the MSD was intended for, players who were previously overlooked have a chance to get onto an AFL list. And the lower the club is on the ladder, the better pick they should have. I never once resented these spacca clubs get top mid season pick so I'm hardly going to have a problem when we are said spacca club.

So just to clarify, Sebit Kuek was in our NGA up until last year? I assume the reason we didn't take a chance on him is because he's gotten exponentially just this year?

Funny that only now there is this narrative being pushed that the intention of mid season draft was to find a plug and play second league player to fill gaps in the list thru injury...not a pre dip at selecting future youth.
You knew it was coming. “But but but WC got a free late first/early second rounder instead of using it on a 30 year old ruck to replace Nic for the year”

Clearly we should be penalised by being stripped of pick 1 this year. We don’t deserve to have it anyway, we’re only last because of injuries.

Absolute crickets about Newcombe currently being favourite for the rising star until we picked up Culley

Yeah, I'm not sure on the rules now but did we miss the chance to add him as a category B rookie, which would have meant he didnt fall within our list - or has that rule changed now. Let's honest we probably stuffed up somehow.

We wouldn't want to equalise the shit teams with the rest of the league too quickly now would we. Or do we think a team on the bottom of ladder getting an extra player everyone passed on 6 months ago is going to take a team from the bottom of the ladder to the top 8?

What a bunch of flogs.

We're all shocked to be sitting here.

Yeah, was trying to think of some 190+ inside mids with kicking ability and could only come up with Bontempelli and Mundy. Given he’s quicker off the mark than Mundy his ceiling is massive.

He would want to be . Mundy is 36 years old.

Doesn't necessarily mean much.

Mo Farah is 39 and he's still pretty quick.
And I'm pretty sure Usain Bolt could do a close to 10sec 100m with a bit of training. And he's 35.

I'm sure he could. But he's a sprinter, not an AFL player .
