I think Jamieson has shown significant improvement since actually being played as a ruck (from memory, he's been used mainly as either a forward or defender in the WAFL since being drafted). Given he's still got scope for physical development, I think the club would be pleased with how he's gone.

Agreed. I didn't judge him for his performance vs Norf as full back, but he's been encouraging as a ruckman.

Rather ropable he hasn't played there at WAFL level considering it's why we drafted him.

really? looks like a big doofus to me lol. Bambi, if you will

We need Broadbent but not with pick #1 or #2 (hopefully Wardlaw)

Definitely want best available midfielder (ideally inside) with our first pick, second pick will be ~19-21 and I'm a bit more open to best available regardless of position given the holes in the list. Same with Port's pick, best available, whether it's used in the draft or as part of a trade I don't mind.

Being able to grab a tall inside mid who kicks goals for free is something we really need to take advantage of.

Feel a bit bad for Florenca. At 25 he doesn't have too many more chances to get on an AFL list, sounds like he's been playing his best footy and even impressed in his one chance at the highest level. He couldn't have done more at this point in his career.

That said, imagine if we picked him up and he instantly came in and improved our midfield - of course he's no A-grader, but say he helped us get over the line in an extra game or two and we dropped a few spots in the ND at the end of the year. There'd be more than a few people upset that we picked a mature age role player and then cost our first chance at a genuinely top end pick in over a decade.

On the contrary, if he's good enough to single-handedly win us games and lift us up the ladder then we probably should've drafted him

Jamo has played plenty of ruck at wafl level.
Most who have watched the beagles would have seen that jamo often looks better as a tap ruck than Williams.

Development as a defender and forward would be part of ruck development. Good rucks drift forward and kick goals and be able to defend their opposition ruck when they drift forward .

Having stints forward and back would fast track this side of the game .

Jamo is still 21 and Williams just turned 22 . Rucks don't normally peak until 25+

Look at lycett he didn't start impacting until he was close to free agency

Being the difference between winning or losing a couple of close games and single handledly winning are not the same thing.

Mind you we'd have to actually have a few close games for that to happen...

Would have had a smoother transition post-Naitanui if Lycett or Hickey had stayed given the ages of the players involved, but it is what it is.

Funny that only now there is this narrative being pushed that the intention of mid season draft was to find a plug and play second league player to fill gaps in the list thru injury...not a pre dip at selecting future youth.

LOL- I'm guessing Whately is saying this.

We should be ashamed of ourselves.

He’s young and inexperienced so he will have some poor games , I’m happy with how he is progressing..

What’s funny is that all the clubs wanted to pick him up , did they mention that ?

100% agree. He has Luke Jackson like qualities

Lycett got offered ridiculous overs in salary and years . We couldn't match that.

Hickey wasn't getting a game and he deserved a chance somewhere else .

Better to rip the bandaid off quickly. Use this year to pump games into the young rucks and pick up high end talent in the draft

That was absolutely the intention of the midseason draft when it was introduced, but as with the medical sub rule, clubs will exploit any opportunity to get ahead.
Completely inconceivable that AFL clubs would manipulate a rule to suit their best interests rather than use it for the purpose the AFL intended
