Now that we’ve added an inside mid surely, I mean surely, we go key position with the first pick this year. Cadman or Jefferson seem to fit the bill.

They almost have to, don't they?

(And don't call me Shirley!).

192cm mid/fwd Mattaes Phillipou, apparently had an incredible game yesterday and a lot are saying he’s the best SA product. I know we have been talking a lot about KPP only, but this kid is intriguing me greatly and he’s becoming the one I want to see the most of at The Champs.

If DeGoey leaves he is the kid I want to select to replace him. Assuming he doesn’t go before our pick.

He is an absolute gun.

Pick a key position player Lemmey/Scully/Jefferson, then Phillipou, then try to trade back into second round or so to select Keeler.

God that would be exciting. I don't know much about Phillipou, but a couple of genuine key forward talents would be sublime.

Oh he’s a gun. Easily the best junior mid in South Australia this year IMO.

Hard in and under, but also has burst away from the contest. And importantly able to link up in chains of general play with really effective kicking.

Wow. 30+ disposals, multiple goals and sometimes 8+ marks. Jeez!

Time to do a little more research into him, get overly attached to the prospect of us selecting him, and get angry when he's taken 2 picks before our slot

Just say we keep winning and some how make the finals and our pick goes out to 10-12, are there good talks in that range or are they all in the top 7-9?
There will be a number available.

Seems to be a few talls and don’t think there’s a key forward that is really banging down the door to be top 5.

It’s just going to be a case of whether we get our 1st, 2nd or 3rd preference. To be honest, I think it’s a raffle as to which key forward actually ends up being the best one. May be a kid picked in the 2nd round.

They would have been able to bank a heap of money when their list was shite. Being really crap for ages not only gives you early picks, it enables you to bank a heap of cap.

I thought you could only bank 5 or 10% which had to be used the following year? Surely that limits it being a big factor.

They can front load contracts. Those long contracts don't result in the same amount every year. Just as we pushed salary cap debt into the future, you can push savings into the future.

I’d take Keeler as our second KPF with a second first rounder if we had one.

I reckon he’s just going through the motions because he knows he’ll get picked up

I understand why it concerns people. It's a bit of a red herring. If you're not invested it'll be hard to get the best out of yourself. AFL is a tough environment.

Agreed, that is a poor attitude to have imo. Talent only gets you so far.

At least it would be; if speculation happened to be reality.

You just keep rolling it over though, by bringing as much money forward as you can from future years.

The more money you bring forward from the back years of your longer contracts, the less money you have on the books in the latter years when you're contending.

Assuming that is anywhere near accurate it still leaves open my dream scenario:

First rounder - Lemmey/Scully
Acquired Second - Keeler
Potential FA compo - Phillipou

+ potentially our NGA boys in Ashwin and Voulanas.

Harley Reid is the player I really, really want next year. So much Dusty about the way he plays (even a Pioneers boy) but unfortunately likely to go top 5 at the latest.

All those KPF potentially available around our pick. Talk about kids in a candy store
