Fingers crossed for Marchy - could he be our David Astbury?

Astbury - 41 games in first 6 seasons. Finished as a 3x premiership player.
Marchbank - 48 games in first 7 seasons. Finished as ________________?
The positive with Marchy is he's still young. There's been plenty of players (particularly talls) that have struggled with injury early in their careers and actually become durable later on.

Hasn't kicked a goal in 2 matches. 2 goals a game as the maim target isn't anything to write home about. He's good. Not great.

when he gets up and going he can be good forward and kick a ball anywhere from 60m out.

but like any key forward, quell their midfield and the speed they bring the ball in and anyone can be stopped, especially 2m peter.

tbh, i barely remember Marchbank playing its been that long. If i remember correctly, he was too small to play key position but would be the perfect 3rd tall/interceptor (bit like Lever at melb). Has good foot skills and smart iq if i remmember correctly
Ideally 3rd tall but can be the 2nd tall if required. Great intercept marker and ability to read the play. Footskills average at best (can be prone to a shank) but manageable so long as he plays within his limitations.

I was just going to post a theory on this. Been getting a strong feeling he was in the frame to play based on 1) rumours 2) unusual quiet from the club 3) let's be real, we really bloody need him back.

Hope your post is based more on fact and less (like mine) on feeling. Also hope he is good for 3-4 team lifting goals vs hated enemy on Friday night.

Always try to base it on fact.

Obviously must get through training etc.

Provided a disaster, he will be 100% good to go.

Very rarely post, but all I can do is pass off the information I receive from reliable contacts.

Strike rate in 2022 - TDK shoulder, Sam Docherty early return, Jack Martin bad knock in pre-season.

Prefer not to speculate and pry into much.

Time for Harry, Charlie and Caleb to go to works on the Bombers.

Go Blues!

Not short of a gallop, but have trouble with incorrect disposal.
You get me.
You really get me.

My understanding of a lateral meniscus surgery is that the recovery time is generally 6 weeks, but - he appears to be WELL ahead of schedule. To be in full training kit running around and jumping suggests to me that he has had a very good recovery. He'd be an absolute outlier from my understanding but not so much so that it becomes implausible.
pretty sure most of that recovery is in wound healing and inflammation/fluid management. If he's got stability and no pain then he can use the medical resources of the club to manage that second bit better than the average punter.

I've had 2 of them. Each time I was basically 100% after 6 weeks, I can imagine in an elite AFL environment already at peak fitness then 4 weeks is possible. Especially if the meniscus trim was particularly small.

Both of mine my knee was completely locked too, as the meniscus gets caught in the joint - I don't think Harry had that issue.

Based on the post in the injury thread about H playing this week - Is this believable?

Can that injury heal in the short time he has been out?
It's a six week injury, so he'd be expected to be ready for the Tigers so one week early depending on how quickly it has healed isn't out of the realms of possibility.

I love Marchy, but his kicking can be VERY hit and miss...
He was THE giants trade at one stage.......was always huge wraps on Mbank....
He never got any match form going at Carlton before injuries struck...a few times and badly

So in a way pressure is off him...he hasnt done much at Carlton, this thime he needs SLOOOOW build up and some patience,

GO Marchbank,Go Blues !!...............................great opportunity for Mbank to jump the queue in the 22 and trying to stay there !!

2 weeks earlier based on a 6 week layoff.

Injured on 8 May (Sunday)
Injury/need for surgery reported by club on 11 May (Wednesday)
Surgery on 12 May (Thursday)
+ 6 weeks => 23 June (Thursday)

So tomorrow being 9 June (Thursday) is exactly 4 weeks since the day of his surgery.

I love how we get pi$$ed off when players don’t come back on time after injury and then still get upset if there’s a chance they can actually get back earlier … Lol

got to get those pitchforks nice and sharp in case one of them reinjures themselves and then we can complain about how shit the club is.....
