The Eagles should be offering Joel Western $250,000 for two years the instant they can - especially if we try and move him to the rookie list.

This Jackson talk is making me really nervous....why not West Coast given they have the currency to trade for him? Presumably they have more cap space too, at least in a couple of years.

I'm all for having Jackson on our list, but if we give him 7 years at $1m plus a year and he doesn't work out, then we could be in some deep trouble....

They have a lot of old players to shift, and a lot of gaps in their list, I'm not sure trading pick 2 or something is the best way to go about it

Yeah but we don't have anything like pick 2. Pick 15 or so is going to get laughed at, even that plus Meek will probably get rejected. But I see the problem of paying a player based on potential if they don't reach that potential.

WC have to use a Ist round pick in the draft . Isnt that correct?
They would have to swap their number 2 pick for two 1st round picks .That won't be easy and it certainly won't be 2 in the first 15.

Assuming Lobb is out the door, what’s his estimated value in a trade? The difference between his best and worst is massive, plays a valuable role, but also turning 30 next year. Probably a mid to late second rounder at most?

If that. Meek is who we would need to get rid if and has some value.

We wouldn't expect to draw across a contracted player like Lobb for a pick in the 30s. There would need to be massive baggage for that, massive baggage.

We shouldn't expect another club to be able to take that from us either. He was ranked inside the top ten key forwards in the competition this year, at number eight, and is contracted.

We should be holding that value to ransom.

The only person who has mentioned anywhere near that type of contract offer was Peter Sumich and it was debunked immediately

Clayton Oliver just signed an extension with Melbourne until 2030. Does that mean that Luke Jackson and/or Angus Brayshaw have made a decision which has allowed Melbourne to pull the trigger on some salary cap decisions?
What in the name of all that is sacred?! They've signed him until the age of 33!! He might well have broken down LONG before that. Dumb move man, dumb move.

I remember reading somewhere a while ago that we were into him, can't remember where
If we get him there will probably be some big list changes end of the year. No way can Tabbs, Logue, Lobb, Fyfe and Zurhaar play in the same forwardline.

The article only said NN occasionally speaks to him. If he comes home it will be to us. Been hearing it for a long time now.
Yes I understand it will.be to us. But the west add something on top of that interview to make it look like WC.Today also they have the interview of Goodwin. First half of article Goodwin interview, then suddenly they describe Jackson grew up rolemodelling Nicnat etc etc... not a single word about Freo in both article.
But as you said it will be either long term with us or 2 years extension at Demons.
