Clarkson and Brayshaw need a vehicle to remain relevant/keep the muscles warm for the next five years while Tasmania is established. North won't be moved there, but I daresay a lot of our Tasmanian players and our existing connection with the locals (hawthorn's too) will be taken full advantage of when they leave (if they were to come in the first place).

I think Clarkson comes over fwiw as it's fitting that he will have connections/premiership success (!!!) with both (!!!) clubs currently linked with Tasmania. I'd go as far to suggest that clarkson will be at the game Saturday.

Going over the soft cap is a 100% tax I thought

Is it? So if we want to spend $2m more on coaches to help our players we would need to come up with $4m, I am sure we could fund it but it would be a bit rich that we need to cough up $2m to go to rich clubs just to try to make us competitive. I think it will go down as well as an unflushable turd.

I am guessing our "assistance" will be a larger soft cap for 3 years until hopefully covid will be over by then and we can go back to the normal soft cap. They might also toss us some shit picks as well but we aren't going to get the AFL blowjob they gave GC.

I think the obvious way to make us better without giving us priority picks is to give us an expanded soft cap which can include a more expensive coach and some good assistants. I mean, we could do it ourselves and just cop the 50% tax, but we likely wouldn’t

Part of the Clarkson appeal is that Assistants will queue up. At least 7 current senior coaches worked under him. It’s a coaching school.

I think that is the upside more than Clarkson tbh, because we have had mediocre assistants for a long time, there has never been any demand for any of our assistants to coach another club, these are the guys that spend the majority of the time with the players. The head coach spends **** all time with them one-on-one.

Some of these "quality", "long term" posters would still have Scott here if they had their way.

Club is never wrong, critics are always wrong, and look where we are today.

Just saying.

Interesting that in the last week or two everyone that has talked about Clarko to North has said that Clarko comes with his own baggage.

Hodge, lewis, and most surprisingly now Gil have all said something along those lines.

Hodge also commented a few years ago about how nice Hawthorn had become compared to the unsociable Hawks era, and very diplomatically inferred that Clarko looked relaxed but wasn't getting results, so a less agreeable Clarko would seem to be more effective

I have inner scrotum leak of the Clarkson interview with GWS, here is the transcript...

GWS: Hi Clarko, sit down and here is a nice cup of coffee.
Clarkson: I'm a bit worried about the salary cap, can you show my the contracts for Greene, Whitfield, Coniglio, Kelly, Taranto, Hopper and that Hindenburg fella.
GWS: Suuure, they all seem to be above board.

You’re 100% right, with that shit coffee in NSW no way Clarko goes to GWS..

Name names instead of making snide baseless remarks.

Put up or shut up.

Don't mind if Clarko is our coach, would hope we have a mentally strong/experienced team around him though. Personally right now I feel we don't.
Like us applying for a PP, think that is fair and just.
The rules are, well the rules.

But I would hate to get salary cap assistance and AFL intervention to land Clarko. That is actually fairly pathetic. We have staff being paid handsomely to do this type of thing, it isn't a good look at all.

Would hate to see a * next to number five.

Oh well.

There wouldn't be one mate. Don't load the bullets for "them".

Point out any premiership this century and I'll point out where the AFL assistance fingerprints were.
