Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

As it stands, we are not Amons preferred destination. We have tabled the most lucrative long term deal but he wants to go to a big four club ( don’t shoot the messenger) Won’t go to St Kilda. Was keen on Carlton as they were keen on him but they don’t have the cap space

Hope he changes his mind, great fit for the club IMO
Heard the opposite.

What is the appeal of the 'big 4' in this scenario?

Not shooting any messenger, just thinking from a viewpoint outside of money.

Carlton can't afford him. But fair enough if they were a preference. On the up.

Essendon plays at Marvel as opposed to the MCG. Not necessarily a win there. Plus who knows about their form over the next 5 years.

Collingwood aren't in a bad spot. Can see some appeal but money would be an issue.

Richmond are on an obvious decline post-premierships. You wouldn't go there to chase success at age 27.

We are actually a great option on all fronts.
MCG tenants.
Big crowds when winning.
Clearly on the rise.
Can offer the most money.

Great info, now I definitely don’t want him 😂

I don't think this is as much of a thing for players as we think it is. Carlton and Essendon have seemingly had no issue attracting their targets the last 5 or so years and their shithole stadium hasn't gotten in the way of things.

My mail, which is direct but from a fair way back, is that Amon is a VERY good chance to be in brown and yellow in 2023.
I don’t mind it. Need some finishers
Cmon man it’s GOLD

There's no yellow at Hawthorn...

“We need to bring as much talent into our group in the right age bracket as we can.

“Karl is on the edges of that. If he’s a player that was interested in coming to Hawthorn then that would be a conversation.”

Great! Sounds like Amon is in our age bracket and we'd be interested if he was interested!
After listening to that interview I didn't take from it that we weren't interested in Amon.
What I took from it was Sammy was playing his cards very close to his chest.

Sounds like an attempted nothing / straight bat response - as it should be. Wouldn’t read anything into it but thought the bit on the edges was interesting - I read that as saying he’s almost too old?

Every year the FA’s get all talked up as guns way above their actual talent/performance (remember cogs?). Amon is a slightly better than average afl winger. I wouldn’t be throwing a heap at him as he’s not going to make a huge difference (I reckon he’s a average kick).

Going too hard on FAs at this stage of rebuild is tricky business - go too hard and every other young player will be wanting big bucks on next contract renewal and our cap will be full before we even contend. Which is why we’ve always struggled with FAs as we know from our flag years you need to manage your cap carefully. The fact seems to be range of views on his interest suggests we’ll need to pay up to get him. .

How do you know he meant too old? Could have been on the edge of being too young. He just said edges nothing about upper edge.

Amon has made an All Australian squad as a pure wing, which isn't common. He's better than 'slightly above average'.

His inclusion to our list would add something we simply don't have, which is why I'd be happy to pay up for him $$$ wise.

A smooth mover who can kick the footy 60m and tackle his arse off when required isn't as easy type to find. I actually think he has the potential to add a lot to our side over the next 4-5 years when we should hopefully be progressing from a bottom 8 side to a top 4 contender in that period.
