Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

Amon has made an All Australian squad as a pure wing, which isn't common. He's better than 'slightly above average'.

His inclusion to our list would add something we simply don't have, which is why I'd be happy to pay up for him $$$ wise.

A smooth mover who can kick the footy 60m and tackle his arse off when required isn't as easy type to find. I actually think he has the potential to add a lot to our side over the next 4-5 years when we should hopefully be progressing from a bottom 8 side to a top 4 contender in that period.
Made all Australian squad once in 9 seasons isn’t particularly impressive. Maybe slightly better than average is a bit harsh (maybe should have said better than average but no star) but Paul Seedsman and Darcy bryne jones, Tom Jonas have also made all Australian squads recently.

I actually think we’re in reasonable shape on outside leaning types coming through and pure wings have become less important recently. From what I’ve seen (and supported by stats) is his kicking is overrated.

Of course get him at a fair price but doesn’t seem worth overpaying and risking creating a salary cap issue in future.

Canary yellow !? That’s Australian Gold my friend & don’t you *ing forget it.
You mean Premiership Gold, young fella.

Burgoyne only made it twice in his time at Hawthorn. AA squads aren’t much of an arbiter of form. Plus wingman get constantly overlooked for AA.

As it stands, we are not Amons preferred destination. We have tabled the most lucrative long term deal but he wants to go to a big four club ( don’t shoot the messenger) Won’t go to St Kilda. Was keen on Carlton as they were keen on him but they don’t have the cap space

Hope he changes his mind, great fit for the club IMO

Jon Ralph asking Jono Brown and Nick Reiwoldt which club would be closer to a premiership for Amon, Hawthorn or St Kilda… and Jono Brown says Hawthorn, even though we’re behind Saints at the moment. Riewoldt left to just watch on. 😂

Ralph closed it out with something along the lines of “I think Amon will be at Hawthorn next year”.

Wingman get overlooked in the team not so much the AA squad.

Amons first really good year was last year, he was well away from the squad previously.

Riewoldt grew up a Hawks supporter - maybe he is secretly excited for us!

I read a lot of posts about our abundance of back flankers and who can move to the midfield/wing/forward line but does anyone think we may have some trade bait there?
I wouldn’t, unless someone came knocking offering ‘overs’.

On paper (at least), we seem to have plenty & I’m sure there are other clubs that seem to have plenty in other positions ($ydney seem to have lots of small forwards, as an example) - I can definitely see the logic in it, but I’d not be shopping our guys.

Nup, Silk never got an AA in the Brown & Gold. Just the one time with Port in 2006.

Just shows what a shite boys club award AA is.

How do you know he meant too old? Could have been on the edge of being too young. He just said edges nothing about upper edge.
Well he clearly didn't mean he was on the edge of being too young did he?

If you look at the ages of our developing players and when we might reasonably challenge then it's risible to postulate that Karl Amon, who turns 27 next month, might be considered on the edge of being too young to be added to our playing group by Mitchell.

It's beyond nonsense.

Def on the too old edge. Sam talks about any recruit as being a premiership teammate for the current core. Amon at 27 is at that outer edge.

Heard Schwarz saying that he was such a massive fan he didn’t give up his cheer squad membership until his second year being a Demons player.

Love this point. The AA uses the wings to stuff mids into the team more often than not rather than put genuinely outside runners in there

Hawks sniffing around Stocker from Carlton?

I think we might target some youngsters who have the capability to play midfield, but are being played off of the flanks.
