So embarrassing and depressing seeing this sort of bullshit inconsistency. How the hell is any new fan supposed to get their head around this.

All good according to this umpiring oracle - who will no doubt (or maybe already has) issue a contradictory edict for an identical incident...

Is calling Saad a terrorist racial or religious vilification? I suppose it could be considered both.
Not to give a free pass to the idiot, but it's not racist. One of my pet hates is branding comments against a religion as racist. Putting aside there are no separate races of humans (we aren't like cats or dogs with different breeds FFS), religion is a choice, not something you have no control over.

This is a little simplistic.

This seems like an odd thing raise without raising. Racism exists, arguing about the semantics over the practices and impacts seems like a particularly useless and obstructive thing to do.

Islam and Ethnicity are quite closely linked. To the kind of person who thinks that all Muslims are terrorists, it's not much of a stretch to extend that to all Arabs are Muslims, therefore all Arabs are terrorists. The logic is obviously flawed, but it's there.

All supporter bases, like all groups of people, have s**t members. I am not going to point fingers.

100%.

I guess the issue that people have is, the wider Crows supporter base lives in an ivory tower, and greet every unsavoury incident involving Port Adelaide as confirmation that we’re all subhuman orcs.

Not sure if you remember socials around the time of the banana-throwing scumbag, but it was basically carte blanche to paint Port as a racist club supported by racists. Sweeping generalisations about “the ferals” abounded.

Yet Walker makes his comment, and all of a sudden it’s ‘just words’, ‘well what did Robbie Young do/say?’, ‘we all make mistakes in the heat of the moment’, ‘gee we’re getting a bit soft aren’t we?’

Now we have this one involving Saad, (following on from a Crows member being banned from AAMI Stadium in 2013 for calling Geelong’s Travis Varcoe a slur), and it’s the same go-round.

But you’re right, all clubs have’em.

This is starting to get a bit ridiculous. He was umpired fairly against Port. I get the feeling Collingwood supporters expect a free kick whenever he is tackled now. Port players were very careful about tackling him around the body and not letting the tackle slip up.

They are just doing everything they can to create a narrative that he is hard done by, with the hope that come finals he does get some of those frees.

It's strategic and I can't blame them for it.

In this instance he is being called a terrorist because he is of middle eastern/north african heritage.

The person saying this does not understand the nuance.

All clubs have shit individual members. However most clubs when faced with the shitness of an individual member make it their priority to stamp out that behaviour and make it clear that they won't tolerate it. Meanwhile at the Crows, they first tried to cover up Walker's racial slur and then welcomed him back from his AFL imposed suspension with open arms, culminating in a shiny new contract extension signed a week ago. And the woman who vilified Saad was allowed to stay in her seat to watch the rest of the game and (so far at least) has been allowed to keep her membership.

It would be a wild generalisation to claim that Crows supporters are more racist than Port supporters. However, the AFC itself is definitely more racist (or at least more tolerant of racism) than the PAFC. I have no doubt whatsoever that if Taylor Walker was a Port player he would have been sacked, and if the woman who vilified Saad was a Port member she would have had her membership revoked by now. That's the difference.

I mean this is true to an extent, but their handling of the racism on the camp and the sweeping under the carpet of the Tex and ROB incidents surely show they have much more serious problems with this at a higher level than other sides.

At least at a club level the other clubs seem committed to stamping it out.

Or to put it another way, other sides have isolated incidents, the tingles have a pattern.
All we're trying to stamp out at the moment is the coach's tenure.

Probably not racist per se to associate terrorism with religious beliefs/faith (if that's what she was truly thinking), but clearly religious bigotry at the very least.

However, one suspects that, because of his physical appearance, the crowd idiot makes the connection between his looks (ergo his ethnicity ie. Muslim) and him supporting terrorist aspirations, so it probably ends up being racism anyway.

In which case, labelling it as such isn't really incorrect.

Not really IMO. When we had 'our' idiot throw a banana at Eddie Betts most Port supporters felt she was an idiot and she was deserving of all the scorn that went her way. As an apples v. apples case (as Walker being a player, we've seen how idiotic our own fans can be on the club / players / coach can never do wrong) I somehow think Adelaide supporters will be more accommodating of what said then Port supporters were.

I wish my teachers had been this generous. We've gone from a top 2 minor round/prelim final finish to 12th for a B-.

Or is this just for Round 20? I can't tell with Fox Footy. Even then, a B- for losing another game we were in a good position to win. Eight so far this year.

I assume that's just from last weekend, with the Crows on an A+?

B- for us is bollocks. It's at best a D (below expectations) and more reasonably an E. I suppose all the "journalist" does is look at the result and say "they only lost to a top 4 team by a kick". Who ducking cares? It may as well have been 60.

There were periods of the game I'd have given us a B- but our lack of structure and fitness comes back to bite every week. Those things are fixable and we've chosen not to fix them. D.

Now Kochie can come out and say,Hinkle's got a B-,we don't overreact and sack a coach who just got us a B-

We exist to challenge, but not beat the 'Big Boys'.

75 Connor Rozee (PORT)

lol Rozee shits it in if he wasn't so incredibly pathetic in the first 5-6 weeks or so.
Or if the coach realised before we were 10 goals down to Carlolton at half time he might be worth a shot in the midfield.

I'd love to know how he came to the realisation that he could be an all-timer. It's also awesome to see he hasn't been doing his wingardesque playing-up injuries when he squibbed contact.
