100% agree he seems to be the true 'utility', not big enough for KP too big for a wing, bit on the slow side to be a mid, then what did we see in him, what was the early comment, was he the next best player? I don't remember that being the narrative, he dropped down and Carlton gleefully pounced. I reckon he was seen as the next gen Crippa, so why play him in defence? Would really like some clarification from the club, are there any ITK's out there that can assist.

By the way I really rate this one.....

That’s fine. Is it ok to express a view that Plowman is a player who we need to move on from?

He’s lost 45 percent of his one v ones this year. He gets no football and No metres gained. He doesn’t tackle or apply any pressure.

He’s certainly targeted on this forum but it’s not without merit. I think the arguments are often “yeah but what about such and such. He had a bad game too.” Or “he wasn’t the only one”.

I don’t like the one off analysis. My eyes and his stats over the course of the whole year make me conclude he’s way below par. That doesn’t mean I have an agenda. It is my opinion. Expressed on what is an opinion forum.

Is that ok?

Of course.

There’s nothing wrong with not liking or rating a player. There’s nothing wrong with expressing that view.

The problem is when hatred for a player is all one posts about, and when irrelevant out of context stuff is raised in support of that negative view.

That’s when it progresses from a viewpoint to an agenda. That’s what we want to avoid and what is against the rules.

Can Kemp play wing? Reckon could be handy there with his height.
No but Kemp can give more run and carry than plow-if he continues to improve his defensive groundball game. We are risking Kemp isolated on Cameron but I guess someone else can absorb that role. The bottom line is, ultimately, I see a better footballer in Kemp than Plowman

Yeah fair enough too.

Speaking of finding goals....how’s cotters sneaky runs into space inside our f50?

Scored twice against crows and did the same in 1-2 previous matches from memory.
I thought Cottrell was moved to half fwd because he did not impact on the wing. That is not good enough for mine or at least a winning recipe

Yeah I wonder how he’d go if it was a specific task given to him. Might work well over longer term.
Turn a negative into a positive perhaps.... the knock on him is defensive running, simplify it to a run with role for this week.... only need it to work for 1 week right now.... not many other options!!

Re: tank

I keep reading that player x doesn’t have a tank...

and each time I stop and think to myself...so why can’t they just run more at training to improve their ‘tank’ ?

What am I missing?

Is it that even after all the training/running they do, players reach a certain ‘tank’ level and don’t progress any further?

I too think Kemp has better upside, but as a defender, the first point of call is to limit the influence of a forward first, then get into an attacking position. With the likes of Newman, Boyd and Stocker out, we need defensive first mindset, as we can use the likes of Doc, Gov and Saad to be the attacking flair

Yeah ok...he’s done it in a previous game also. I was thinking it was a sneaky tactic to run as an extra into f50.

If he can score 1-2 goals as a half fwd why not? Is reasonably quick and seems to be a good set shot.

where's your self-respect?
By Sam destroying it in his first year, do you mean 3rd year, the number after the 2nd year?

Just checking that you know, Cumberland is a 3rd year player, Henry a 2nd, Ginnivan a 2nd and Stengel was drafted in 2016
Thanks! Yes I did things around the wrong way, ranted before researching🙄.

Not saying I’m onboard with Dow doing this, but perhaps not an entirely silly idea either.

Young players are sometimes given run-with roles on opposition guns to quell them and to hone their skills. Unorthodox thinking, but could it work with Dow? (Be gentle Arrow 😁).

That would be a fair assessment. I think players can improve their aerobic running through training but obviously some guys will have higher and lower ceilings based on genetics. Cripps for example was a poor runner and with hard work has got to AFL standard fitness for a mid but will never be a top 5 runner at the club no matter how much work he puts in.
