I will say one thing, you have been consistent in your message.

I’m not sure anyone but Alistair Clarkson know what he is doing?

If find the whole travelling to Sydney to tell them No a strange thing, but maybe he’s that type of Cat?

My gut feel is the verbal is that he is very interested and is being misconstrued as he has agreed to come. You would think we will know pretty soon, because after 4 meetings you would think he will inform GWS of his intentions either way within the week.

This is what I’ve been feeling too. Bloke basically agreed to hold chats and it’s been taken out of context.

Hope we’re wrong though :)

We won’t go untried again surely, I just don’t think there’s a cultural fit with Lyon, we won’t touch Pyke with this camp stuff, don’t think we’d get Williams (although I think that’d be ok) they’ll give Hinkley the arse. I don’t see other options
he's going for 26 bucks on sportsbet, good money to be made

If Clarkson does go elsewhere, Pike should not be considered. The Adelaide camp thing looks like it is going to blow up big time and what is being said about him, doesn't exactly excite.

Heath Yunnie was there, Which is bad enough

Why is everybody so dead set against Hinkleys? His coaching record has been good for a long time now at Port.

Hinkleys >>>>>>>>>> Lyons any day of the week.
3 prelims, if we count the weird ass 2020 season, sitting about 58% win record. Not terrible. But it could be compared.

If we actually ended up with Hinkleys, that would literally be the straw that breaks the camels back for me. Would stop paying my membership and probably just completely tune out of football for a fair while.

It’s pretty naive to think that someone of the calibre of Tony Shepherd doesn’t have a succession plan from within his current Board.

Who owns the license to GWS? The club/members or the AFL?

Because Swans voted to not create GWS and the AFL vetoed them despite what well credentialed people in the Swans wanted, because they own the Swans.

I have no doubt the people at the club have someone in mind, but whilst your club is funded by the AFL to the extent you guys are, you do what they want in the end. You only really have independence and autonomy if you are not indebted to them, reliant on them or owned by them.

They are giving us the shits 24/7 because we can't tell them to **** off atm.

I think the overreaction has been a bit much. To be fair we are almost a blank canvas of sorts when it comes to the Football department (because of the review and upcoming changes). Clarko would be able to assemble a team as he wishes and we would/should have no clout to deny him. Our list is younger, cap space isn’t an issue and we will continue to bring in young talent that will grow together.

GWS have there issues regarding list as everyone is aware. But the other issue is the management which I don’t think things are as rosy as they seem. Tony Shepard isn’t exactly receiving glowing endorsements from the GWS fan base and they seem to want change. Is that why Clarko has asked the question as per Ralph’s article?

I still think we are a very attractive proposition for any coach both list and overall football department malleability wise. We are still in the hunt..

Didn’t Yze call us a basket case ?
Thanks but no thanks

We are a basket case, but so was Collingwood last year. If you can't build a side the way you want you have no business coaching, at any level.

Hopefully clarko doesn’t wait till end of season to announce his Decision
Will end a few of us if it takes that long - even if he picks us.

I think for better or worse we will find out in a couple of weeks at the latest, after that we have to start our "process".

Kenny is a great coach. He develops positive relationships with his list. They've been near enough for a couple of years with a young list in a comp where you only have one winner.
Ross would be a Malthouse level disaster. The 2009 era Saints loved him but footy and young men and list management has changed. His commentary on MMM does him a disservice. In jokes and swipes and zero empathy for young players in the game with Carey et al who have had amazing 90s careers, undeniable superstar status, but not the skills to manage an under 9s team.
Clarko is a huge gamble. He is a tight wire.
IF ... Feffing if ... he was able to emotionally invest we might benefit from his top level nous and ability to attract players. BUT will he be able to invest? It won't be a walk in the park. This is the million dollar question. If only we could jag a McRae. I'm no fan of the Pies but McRae has them humming. Speaks so calmy and sensible and empathetically. Coach of the year for mind.

Simply because he still has premiership vets and other gun vets like Pendles, Sidebottom, Elliot, Crisp, Adams, Maynard, Miochek, Cameron, DeGoey, Grundy, Moore and Howe to harness their kids.

They literally have veteran leadership across every line.. we have Goldy..
