After Barrett’s comments I’d be keeping an eye on Simon Dalrymple to come in as list manager or head recruiter. Had a great deal to do with recruiting Sam Mitchell - my whispers suggest that Clarko as well as meeting GWS to tell them no may have been sounding out what he was doing. Now that could be at either North or GWS but it does add another layer to the narrative. He helped build the Bulldogs 2016 team and has drafted players like Rowbottom and Warner to Sydney so would be a great get.

No to trading Goldy. We wont be getting much more than an early 3rd rounder and hes still a top 5-8 player for us. If we do it I am done.

No to hinkley. He seems like a Brad Scott mark 2. Just look at Port now, mediocre at best and I reckon they are underperforming. Look at collingwood top 4 with that bunny Cox as their key fwd.

And that clown Barrett, as has been said above he would have great thrill in setting us up for more failure.

I think what has happened is McGuire has leaked news from Clarksons manager on Wednesday - until then North have managed to conduct a pretty good covert operation over at least 2 to 3 weeks prior. Once that news broke I’d suggest Sonja Hood has jumped on the front foot and given Barrett some inside info on the basis of 2 things -
1. He reports positively.
2. She gives him the final story first to break.

This tells me we are really close as I’ve said all along it’s just window dressing required.
If Barrett is saying that today it’s news probably fed from the President that it’s close.
