2023 3rd and it's done.
Our 2023 2nd rounder is likely to be in the early 20s.
l had their 3rd as well but took it away but forgot to change the 2023 2nd round pick to 2023 3rd round. l think Pick#5 and they get TT plus 2023 3rd round would be fair....

Who ever leaves now will be telling of them more so than the club. They have a top line coach and the stability of him having 5 year contract.

Only players prepared to work hard enough for a premiership will stick around. The rest we should accomodate their departure and squeeze as much currency out of the trades as we can. But we shouldn’t convince anyone to stay. That means we may need to accept less than we want.

Players want to leave for a multitude of reasons. Sometimes it's not even coach related.
Who knows what his issues are.

No way would we sweeten the deal with 2 years to run lol

Let's just hope Snoz isn't in on the negotiations

Have done a scenario based on us getting a mid 1st (11) and mid 2nd (30) PP this year, end of 1st (19) PP next year and two extra rookie list spots as our assistance package from the AFL. For those following the 6,000 point request we've apparently made, the above picks equal 2,906 points.

Start with picks 1, 11, 30, 55, 65 & 73.

1. Pick up Buddy as a free agent, on a 1 year / $8 million contract. Despite the Clarko connection we now have, reports are Buddy wants to head to Brisbane and I've always had the impression that he hates us with a passion, so if we're to get him over I reckon we might need to over pay on his salary by a smidge.

2. Trade our 2023 end of 1st PP to Freo for Logue and their 2023 4th round pick. I do actually think that whatever PP we get next year (if any) should be traded, both so it can't be taken off us and to improve is sooner.

3. Trade Scott, Lazzaro, Anderson & pick 65 to St Kilda for Hill and pick 27. Based on reports Scott wants out and Anderson may not be offered a new contract, and our reported interest in Hill, any salary dump deal with St Kilda needs to include a good pick coming our way. Have also included a contracted Lazzaro in the deal as we could also pay some of his salary to ensure we get that good pick, but really have no idea on how to value picks when it comes to salary dump situations.

4. Trade picks 1 & 55 to GWS for picks 3, 12 (via Richmond for Taranto) & 21. Understand many would be dead against this and whilst I'm a Wardlaw fan, it does seem a fairly even draft at the top and this year I'd be prepared to trade pick 1 - but only as long as it includes a pick in the top 4 coming back to us as I do want one of Wardlaw, Sheezel, Cadman or Tsatas.

5. Trade picks 11 & 12 to Gold Coast for picks 7, 25 & 51. On paper, I don't like this trade and would normally stick with the 11 & 12, but the one player that I do really, really, really want from this draft is Busslinger as I think CHB is the biggest hole in our developing list and he looks like a great prospect. Many say that you can get KP backs on the cheap via trade / FA, but that should always only be a back up option IMO - shouldn't be relying on it.

6. Send pick 51 to West Coast for Rioli. West Coast wouldn't be happy with that, but it's time we paid them back for the LMac bid.

7. Acres seeks a trade to *. But the Dodo, desperate to look tough in a last ditch effort to save his job, picks the wrong bloke in Bell to try to play tough with. Trade talks fall through, which initially delights the Bombers as they believe the will get him for free via the PSD. But just 4 minutes before the PSD, Acres receives a call from our Sonja. After a quick conversation (which concludes with Acres and Sonja both saying "Hmhmmhmmm...aaaah, LOL Essington...Jinx! Jinx again!"), Acres agrees to terms and joins us via the PSD.

8. We delist Turner, Bosenavulagi, J Walker, Hall, Hayden & P Walker. We also negotiation a pay out deal with Polec and he retires.

9. We then also delist Mahony, Spicer, Greenwood and Ziebell, but commit to taking them all in the rookie draft.

At the draft we take:

4 - Sheezel
8 - Busslinger
23 - Keeler
27 - Konstanty
30 - Lemmey
33 - Scully
73 (F/S) - Harvey (Likely a small deficit carried over to next year)

Overall list changes:
Out: Scott, Lazzaro, Anderson, Turner, Bosenavulagi, J Walker, Hall, Hayden, P Walker & Polec.
In: Buddy, Logue, Hill, Rioli, Acres, Sheezel, Busslinger, Keeler, Konstanty, Lemmey, Scully & Harvey.

We fix our dearth of developing KPP players in one draft and bring in some good mature players which sees immediate improvement on field, ultimately rising all the way up to 16th on the ladder. We then take once in a generation small forward Nick Watson at pick 3 of the 2023 draft, who becomes instrumental in our 5-peat from 2026-2030.

holy shit GIF

This 100%. Absolutely everything that could go wrong did go wrong last season. There will be a few delistings (my guess is 4 - 5) who would have been let go regardless, everyone else starts fresh; new coach, new game plan, some new positions, new standards, new attitude it's all positive.

Yes Yes Yes exactly

Been thinking about what Kingy said. Some are gonna love Clarko being here and some are gonna realise shit this is going to get hard. He’s a ball breaker. The men are going to get sorted out from the boys and I can’t wait. Whoever leaves , that says more about them.

Had 15 pages to catch up on, for anyone interested here is a summary of topics covered

Trade value of TT… oh no

Bull off to the scum…oh no no

Still talk of Brad Hill at his 900k price rage….Oh no no no…

See you in another 15 pages

You could have told me this 15 pages ago

Out of interest, when was the last time a contract extension was announced on Syd Barker night? Every year we have these thoughts that a key signing will be announced and the faithful in the crowd rise as one in raucous celebration, but I genuinely can't remember the last time a contract was announced like that.

Love how we've traded one of our best talents because some random poster said so.
It's on the internet which makes it an irrefutable fact! In other news, I saw a website that had a picture of Bigfoot riding the Loch Ness Monster which is just amazing. She was doing it without a saddle too which is even more impressive!
I say She because if it was a bloke named Bigfoot, he'd be dining out on that s**t 😉

Honestly I have no idea where tf some of my compadres on the Suns board are getting this Tarryn Thomas rumour from. Did it come from here?

I mean I'd love him but I can't help but feel our fans are getting a bit excited by something less than a half rumour. Just came in to check if it is pure delusion from our side.

‘I can’t help but feel our fans are getting a bit excited by something less than a rumour’.

Really? Must be a new club thing. On this board I’ve only ever seen civil conversations on things we know to be fact.

Why would Clarkson and Viney agree to trade TT when they hardly know him and therefore can’t have a view about what they can get from him? There’s a 2 year contract in place, they have a look next year and if they don’t like what they see, they’ve still got the trade leverage of a contract in place. The stuff on here that’s not only based on a rumour puff but which makes no logical sense is plain silly

There will be a pretty determined view from those two that they will make him a player. That they will make quite a few of our boys into serious footballers.

Didn't Levi Greenwood give us the inside word on Syd Barker nigh.... er, never mind.

I don’t even think pick 5 is sufficient. I would rather the risk of trying to work out his issues and hopefully becoming the player we expect.

Agree 100% , GC will be asking 2 1st round picks and may settle for a 1st and 2nd.

With 2 years on his contract and being a pick 8 even with concessions.

I can't see us letting TT go for anything less than what GC receive.
