We already see clubs like Gold Coast have retention issues and I think Tassie will need to do alot of work to ensure they can sustain a healthy list without turning into the Merry go round the other expansion clubs are

I'm 26 and lived in both Melbourne and Hobart, and Hobart is by far the better city to live in. No crowded hour long delayed train rides or being stuck in traffic every morning and night. No crackheads asking you for money as you wander the streets at night. No 45 minute wait in lines to get into bars/clubs.

Not everyone wants to live in a big city. Go ask all of the footy players that keep requesting trades to Geelong.

With some smart management they can do it

That can be problematic within football sport admins. May need extend to the greater sports community. Cricket has managed ok.

No doubt it would appeal to some but I still think it might be difficult to sustain a full 40 person list

Geelong has the benefits of being under an hour drive to Melbourne so it’s easier for family’s to still have that big city connection if they desire but contending with flights out of Tassie is just that much more of a barrier when comparing to Geelong for that country lifestyle

I am an avid reader of this board but never post, however i had to log in to post this thread from my uncle (Geelong supporter) and I when i shared the great news about the arrival of Hopper and Taranto on my facebook page and how much it will improve our midfield (super six photo from twitter also shared). They win one flag and all of a sudden think they are the best ever!! I haven't heard any more from him since the last comment!!

C'mon, have a bit of empathy. The poor boy is homesick. He's just a little (80kg, 189cm) boy (20 years of age) who's working away (73km) from his family and friends. What is he meant to do if he is at work and he has a sore tummy?

Whilst I’ve got empathy for kids drafted interstate who then get homesick, he’s an hour up the ****ing road.

I thought it might be amusing given his patronising stance. Granted its no post about peoples favourite chocolates but at least its football related. Ive seen many a time on here people posting their conversations with other people who follow other teams and other peoples comments about the Tiges...not sure how this is different other than the other person is a relative of mine!!

We've got 3 senior spots. Really only two because Pickett will definitely be upgraded.

Stack and Aarts also need to be upgraded if we want to keep them, so I'd say they're both likely to be delisted (hopefully Stack is re-rookied).

Martyn and RCD would also have to be gone from the senior list. Can't find a spot for them.

If we're smart we'd take him. Worst case we sell him to Geelong for a second round pick at the end of the season. Call it an investment.

It's incumbent on Geelong to get the deal done and they usually do. Ollie Henry and his camp should really STFU, having a 20yr old effectively trying to stand over Collingwood is a terrible look and I wouldn't blame Collingwood calling his bluff.

Pies have made many list management errors but this ain't one of them.
