Are you going to give insights?

Is it insightful and worth listening to - given it’s the HUN

Settle down Asterisk. I wrote the insights previously (see below) … then someone asked for the link.

Allan's manager even admitted on HBG podcast that he doesnt use his pace on the field. Just red flags for me.

One of my issues with our recruiters taking smalls is they always take players on what they hope they will be, not what they are. ie, overlook the more obvious picks and get too clever. I'd prefer we just bank a Hollands/MacKenszie type if we can.

Also said “he didn’t shoot the lights out” at times during the season.

Darcy Jones looks classy enough to play small forward then move to a wing when more physically developed .....speed factor will get Jones drafted maybe WC at #26 would be okay .

I hope not. Listening to his manager on HBG it sounds like recruiters only really took notice based on his 20m sprint.

Listening to that it is fair to say his sprint time captured the attention of recruiters

However, you could also say that his back injury that kept him out of the first half of the season, including all but the final game of the champs when it sounds like he was still underdone, was also a factor as there was no exposed form until late

Without much of an underage year as well you can understand why he wasn’t high on peoples radar despite having the attributes that would have brought him attention earlier had he not been injured

If he was the finished product with his attributes, athletic abilities and skill set (he is an excellent kick), he would be going top 3.

I hope we pounce at 12 after going a more known quality at 8..

With our pick 8 we need a player with a career outcome of being a 7 out of 10 to 9 out of 10 player. In other words a locked in good safe player. Pick 12 I’m more open to swinging for the fences, though would still prefer a safer pick, with someone who could have an outcome of 5 out of 10 but could also be a 10 out of 10.

Can’t open obviously but linking us to Barnett and J Ryan.

At a guess for 8 our preferences in order are
  • Ginbey
  • Mackenzie
  • Clark
  • Allan
Depending on who slips through. No real link to Humphrey.

Second pick Jefferson link sounds exactly like Chesser last year where it came out of nowhere in the days before the draft. Might just be backup for Allan in case he’s picked before 12? Definitely something in it though

Probably an unpopular opinion but I would rather Jefferson than Allan at 12. Proven performer at u17 and u18 level. Has speed, reads the play well and can mark. Main area to improve is strength and bodywork which is pretty typical for a young forward.

Would rather take a mid at that pick but I'd also prefer Jefferson to Allan at a pick that high.
I actually would have liked Allan at our 3rd or 4th pick but his draft stocks have risen too high for that to happen now.

This pisses me off. Eagles recruitment is looking like a joke. Traded pick 2 for F all.

Hope the fat ass Obrien knows this is his job and if he doesn't land quality his done. Fired on the spot.View attachment 1560761

Lol. Your melting because we may miss out on Ginbey, a relatively unproven mid with question marks over his kicking.

When we could draft two of Mackenzie, Hewett, Clark or Hollands. Proven quality mids.

Or one of them plus a quality tall.

All the talk of Jefferson. If we were into him I wonder if a trade with the swans is more likely.

Pick 12 & Ports Future 2nd ?

Get 14 & 17

That way Jefferson and maybe Hewitt, Barnett, Allan could all be on the board. Seems a sweet spot for where we are looking.

Would love

9 McKenzie
14 Jefferson
17 Hewitt
20 Barnett
26 Hotton/Burgiel/Ryan

Would be a good hand I reckon.

Maybe the Pieman is looking for Melbourne to want to swap 12 and 13 to take Jefferson. Having traded Jackson, Dees have plenty of future picks to ensure we get vale.

Example - 12 and Eagle’s F3 for 13 and Freo’s F2. Do it. Keep talking up Jefferson.

It could also be Sydney that are interested!

12 and Ports F2nd for Swans 14 and 17?

May even swap Ports F2nd for our F3rd.

Id do that. 12 and F3rd for 14 and 17.

Go in with 8, 14, 17, 20 and 26.

After bids.

9 Mackenzie / Ginbey
15 Jefferson
18 Clarke / Hotton
23 Hewett / Burgeil
29 D Jones / Szybkowski

There is our 5 picks inside the top 30 we were aiming for.

Would rather keep our future picks.
Maybe 12 & 20 for 14 & 17?
Would be a pretty even trade.
Could even push for 12 & 26 for 14 & 17 depends on how desperate Sydney are.

9 Mackenzie
15 Jefferson
18 Hewett
29 Barnett/Burgiel

Heard the Melbourne Head recruiter talk about distinct groups of players and how they would be willing to use their and Freo’s Future firsts to get up the order. Would WCE consider trading pick 8 for Melbournes 13 and a Freo F1?

Likely Freo’s future first is in the teens so we push back our selection 5 spots and have 4 selections in the the first 2 rounds in next years draft. Could be fun to death ride Freo….

Sounds like there is a very strong chance the Dees want Jefferson so if we want him we need to keep 12, rather than trade down

I wonder what Jefferson's 20 time is. These tall forwards needs to be explosive these days
