The freak Swannie injury was a catastrophe that cost us at least one - if not two - flags.
That was disappointing. I really wanted to see him playing as a permanent small forward. He would've kicked a lot of goals just through sheer weight of possessions.

One day coaches and the “footee meeja” will realise crowds boo players they think are just garbage humans or champions they’re jealous of

Which is why they booed Franklin and Papley

It is becoming a sideshow though, does the club necessarily need to be on media street frequently in regards to booing?

It’s really just tiring.

Loved the win, but on a negative note, did the broadcast seem particularly shite this match? In terms of camera angles, zoom, and commentary it seemed like the shittiest game I can remember. I normally don't mind Daisy or BT too much but geez.
I did notice the camera work
It was terrible

Nick's response to tagging after the game was elite. Welcomed the challenge, unaffected by it and knows the club will use that to its own advantage. If you want to sacrifice 1 or 2 blokes a game on trying to nullify football Jesus, best of luck to you.

As in, the booing just needs to stop.
Or...

We pick a player every week and boo him.
No reason why, we just boo one player.

The media will be so confused. The AFL won't know what to do to stop it.
Eventually, it will appear on Sporstbet, with odds on which player the Collingwood supporters boo this week.

The AFL will be torn between wanting it because of betting, and wanting to stamp it out.

Funny.

This week, lets boo Josh Kelly (number 22).

::)

I think we should thank sydney for giving nick the full treatment. This is the time of the year to get him accustomed to these kinds of methods. I think this is one of the reasons that the coach is welcoming the heavy tagging. It was a good chance for the pies to practice how they support a player when he is targetted. I'm not kidding when I say that I hope other teams use the same methods in the coming weeks. It will assist in making nick bulletproof and will give the team some good practice for the finals.

Carlton will try it for sure. Thats about all Vossy's ideas about containing him will consist of

All the hysterics from the swans about booing Franklin suggests it hit a nerve and therefore may have somewhat put them off. Making a song and dance about it increases the chances of it continuing. Swans would have been much better saying nothing.

Interesting vision on First Crack last night showing ND moving off his tagger at stoppage, and picking up another player, leaving the tagger stranded and undecided about what to do next.
Invariably ND got clear and a possession by the time the tagger reacted.

Boo the GWS Auskick kids to really make the media melt

What he did to us was murder us nearly every time we played against him!! Superstar and so dumb to boo. Couldn't agree more on Papley!!

I was at the game and it wasn’t happening where we were - about Franklin - Papley, yes and Clarke for targeting Daicos, yes.

Pies fans were genuinely confused where I was sitting and a little annoyed - someone near me said this will end up all over the press and will overshadow the dirty tactics on Nick off the ball.

I think the coach and players emphasising the help the crowd gives makes some think that booing good players puts them off their game and is helping the team. Boo a shot on goal or a player’s dirty tactics on field all you like. Targeting good opposition players could end up spurring them on and can be misconstrued as being about something else. We also lose the higher moral ground on Ginni being booed with impacts on mental health.

Maybe Darcy or Fly could simply say it does not help and ask for it to stop?

I don’t like it. Wouldn’t it be better to focus on stopping the sniping on Nick? Umpires need to be protecting him and we can use our voice when we see something off the ball (often not on camera). Longmire made comments about hurting a star player from the opposition before the game and was unrepentant about dirty play afterwards. He has now distracted everyone with this silly booing of Buddy.

Dirty opposition tactics will rile up the outer - we need to be smarter about what actually works in response.
