Another example of a player the medicos sent out onto the field with a injury and that during the game his injury got alot worse

SPS had a cork and played half a game out with it. No doubt he copped another hard knock which caused the bleeding.

He was subbed within 10 minutes of it happening. The bigger question is probably post game management.

Another example of a post that GoEaglesGoSGIO sent out onto this forum with a blantant error and that because of his contribution the thread got alot worse.

In the four weeks since he got taken off TBC he’s gone
7-8 weeks
7-8 weeks
6-7 weeks
6-7 week.

That’s not how time is supposed to work.

I think we can all safely say that the club has got the message about injuries and TBC being botched is shithouse and not good...

BUT with dwindling attendances due to our abject performances they'll string the NN comeback tour back week by week until round 16 or so they'll announce he had a "setback" and is out for the season in an attempt to keep poor suckers holding onto hope.

Different rules

Nic returning to play off an achilles injury is not as simple as one of the young pups coming back off a stock grade 1 hammy. It's a delicate area and he's an older player.

I can see why they ran with TBC because predicting how that injury would heal and how he would rebuild is throwing a dart at a dartboard for an outcome. They abandoned the TBC due to external pressure and put in a timeframe. I don't now expect them to tell us weekly every time Nics progress has slipped behind or he's had a minor setback. That should be expected given his age and the injury.

There's plenty to pot the club about, Im sure you've got the list, but I just don't think this is one. Doubtful we'll see him this year but it won't be for a lack of trying.

Agreed.

Achilles tendinosis is a tricky one, as it often has a habit of feeling manageable during activity, only for it to completely seize up and feel worse than ever once you've cooled down.

It's also very easy to make it flare up again without necessarily adding much load.

Also a high risk of becoming degenerative if reinjured too often, which at Naitanui's age would probably be career-ending.

I should know, such an injury is what effectively put an end to my athletics career.

Can see why the club is being very cautious in this case.

If it were any other player, maybe.

But nah, when they said he was a few weeks away despite it being round 10 and he's nowhere near it, happy to press X to doubt with anything NN and Injury related

I'm not quite sure what people actually want to see against NN's name on the injury list?

If the club genuinely doesn't know how long it is going to take to get his achillies right then they can either put some arbitrary timeline up there or slap a TBC there - both of which are apparently unacceptable.

I think you know the answer, and it's Nic Nat late 2023.

Make it so!

Personally I’d prefer “indefinite” to TBC.

I don’t have a problem with the timeline they’ve put in there, per se. If on Tuesday they thought he was about 6-7 weeks away, fine. My issue is that his expected return has slid back constantly and they haven’t acknowledged it or explained it in any way.

In isolation it probably wouldn’t be a big deal, but it adds to the long-time pattern of playing silly buggers and being less than honest with fans that’s really come to a head this season.

I'd prefer "LTI" which reflects the reality of his injury and allows us another selection in MSD.

Take him off the injured list and put a (Ret) next to his name.

On Adrian Barich’s podcast he stated that the Eagles have hired someone from the AIS in Canberra to do a full review of their medical/S&C program. I thought they weren’t doing an independent review

As long as their surname is Nesbitt they can be external or internal….

I thought Fitzpatrick said they were the other day?

Wasn’t someone insisting there was no one in the world with the skill set to do such a review?
