Yes he was good last week and I praised him for this but tonight he was worst on. It started with Doedee going to Casboult who is far too big and strong for him, first he kicks the first goal then minutes later outmuscles Doedee who gets injured in the contest. From there the disappointing stuff just continued.Nicks is an idiot sometimes. Some of his decision making like Murray in the ruck?
Keays and Sloane in the middle when we were getting slaughtered..
Keeping Butts on King.
Played Brisbane at homeWould you rather lose to Brisbane and beat Gold coast??
I'm just so confused that we absolutely bring it and crack in against the top teams and rise to the occasion and yet these mediocre teams bring a little bit of pressure and we just lay down and take it.... Why does this happen? Do we prepare differently when we play high rank teams?
Both Teams avg 24 yrs 11 mths tonight, and we had 10 games more average 88 to 78. Not really an excuse tonight..4th youngest team in the comp - it's not completely unexpected.
Needs to change, but for now, it's a good indicator of where we are at.
To be fair he was asked to be a tall defender today after doedee went down. He isn't one.I feel like I’m on crazy pills with how everyone just seems to accept Hinge being a walk up start in our best 22? Is it just that people forget he’s there? What does he actually offer over someone like Worrell?
Should have been sent to Tassie. We don’t need 19 teamsThey're still a middle of the table side.

You could see at Half Time ....the Crows were gassing / ultra sweaty ....and GC looked the fresher
Crows had to go into a cool room at breaks .....GC stayed on the ground
Same as against GWS ....Laird could only muster the 1st half ....then petered out in the heat
Get it into the FWD 50 & we score .....but our DEF continues to be the Achilles Heel
Good
Keays .....the boy stands up under pressure ....has a never give up attitude, replicated by Murphy
Michalanney ....just stands up week after week ....never gets fazed & will be a great Finals player
Milera ....back to his dancing best
Bad
Butts ....tries hard, annoys, but gives easy goals away .....lost count, 3 min goals he cost .....not up to it !
Sloane ...please retire gracefully ....you try hard, but are largely ineffectual
Ned McHenry ....will always be on the fringe of the 22
Soligo ....was never a contributor tonight, just made up the numbers
Laird .....has a mental problem with heat
Ugly
Some strange coaching moves & matchups by Nicksy ....why did he take Keays off Rowell in the 3rd Qtr
The DEF is a mess ....we need KPD's !

You’re not giving up on this are you?And neither had white shorts!
AFL might be trialing them in Darwin.Should have been sent to Tassie. We don’t need 19 teams
You'd think Burgess had a big say in our heat management ......seemed to be very involved in positional changes discussion with NicksyAlso think our whole strategy in regards to the humidity, was something straight out of the collective minds mindset.
Why did we go on to the ground late in the 4th quarter? The fucming heaters at training? The sweat bands. The bigger you make something, the bigger a psychological barrier to overcome it would be. Should have treated the weather the same as any other week.
This forum needs more Skippos contentGoing to be a lot of negatives aimed at the fellas after that, and I get it. But it's a young squad finding their feet in conditions they've not really played in before against opponents who not only have, but did last week and had the entire week up there preparing/acclimatising. Those conditions are ****ed - both in terms of how it affects the person and how it affects the ball. Huge advantage. Losing Doedee was structurally really damaging given how Gold Coast set up their forward line. I get how that happened, I'm not too upset about it, and I've still got supreme faith in these fellas.
Butts is a bit of a concern and has been for awhile, Hinge is very vanilla and doesn't really offer anything special in any regard - he feels very replaceable. ROB was comprehensively beaten at the tap and ineffectual around the ground. Not Sloane's best, either.
Gets a lot of stick around here and I totally get why, but I reckon Keays was phenomenal tonight. I don't care about the 36% disposal efficiency. It's a s**t metric anyway. Three of those were near-goals stopped on the goalline, two of which get recorded as clangers. Cracked in all night, tackled hard, won the ball, kept his man honest and wore him like a glove. And honestly, got worn like a glove by Rowell when we were in possession too. But his gut running, in those conditions, was just unbelivable. Nobody else on the ground worked nearly as hard. Every single time we forced a turnover he embarked on a 100 metre sprint and got 15 metres goal side of his man into damaging offensive space. Every time. All night - didn't relent until the end. We just weren't good enough to take advantage of it most of the time. Impressive.
I get the focus on his disposal - but especially in conditions like that, it's not nearly as relevant (and effective disposal is more challenging). Just get it forward, and run hard to get the balls others hoof forward. Nobody was better at that tonight.
Edit: forgot to criticise Sholl. He deserves the criticism. Time to move on. Tex needs to do more when he's not having shots too - same criticism Fog got for most of his early career. Think we could do with a couple of battlers like Sholl and Hinge rotating out for blokes like Worrell and Nankervis.
Also, playing away from home is hard. Playing away from home at these novelty grounds against perpetual pseudo-home teams is harder. Darwin, Launceston, Ballarat in quick succession. Not good. Fixture inequity for sure in not being a high-drawing Melbiurne side.
I have a mate with that problem. You have my sympathy. It's a shame they don't have a colourblind mode built into TVs. Some videogames have that.
Colourblind modes in video games are generally authored by the developers (eg. "draw this character in a red shirt normally or draw this character in a bright pink shirt if colourblind mode is on") and the changes are made before the image is drawn to the screen. What does it do?
I felt the momentum had changed before that goal and hoped such an effort would lift us.That 5 minute patch midway through the 2nd after Jnr's awesome goal was the turning point. We had our foot on the throat, and were a couple of goals away from breaking them. But a couple of woeful clangers from Tex, they get the ball forward, score a goal, break the momentum and the rest is history.
Tex has been good this year, but he's also gone to water at really crucial stages in the game, in far too many games.
