Ashcroft is very good but think Sheez has been better. End of the day the AFL wants to make inroads in QLD so having a young rising star winner would not surprise if that eventuates.
I agree. Whilst it is poor if true, the reality is if he played for a “big” club, he would be more likely to win. Having said that, I have my fingers crossed 🤞

Starting to notice his lack of speed a bit more recently. But also noticing the lack of polish we have in the back half without him.

With Jy's missed games with his wrist and now his 2 games with concussion, Sheez is probably likely the front runner for the Syd you would think?

Larkey probably the other contender.

I'd absolutely love if he won the Syd in his rookie year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Goldstein is leading the race at this point. He has turned back the clock and is having one of his best years.

Sheezel and Logue are the other two having really consistent years. Ziebell would be up there as well. LDU/Simpkin are missing too much time and while Zurhaar and Larkey are both having good years, it's a very hard award to win as a forward.

Saw the Sheezel article in the (parochial) Brisbane paper and thought it was a bit strange until I realised it was a betting ad.

he’s well above Ashcroft this year and that’s not being biased, but I wish he had kicked that goal against the swans or on the weekend so to help him with his chances

Going back a long time to remember the last we had a player come in and impact like this. Wells maybe the last time a player was so quickly amongst our best and to be fair he didn't look anywhere near as lethal as Harry has to date.
I'd have said that Byron Pickett was the last person who made a similar impact, both in terms of his defensive pressure and the bodies he left behind.

The soccer off the ground that he fluffed - I reckon he thought , he was going to volley it through from 50
Cocky little youngster lol
i must admit, thats a massive pet peeve of mine and i was furious when Howe did it the other week

And I was initially pissed with Sheez's effort too, but when i saw who it was i was like, okay, he probably saw something i didn't and just ****ed up the execution. Some players should be encouraged to try things. Not Dan Howe though

Four weeks in, how do we feel about the way Ratten is utilising him?

Clarkson was almost a little too stubborn with keeping Sheezel down back, but as a permanent fixture in defence he was to my eye a lot more comfortable and played with a ton of confidence.

The last four weeks it’s been a bit of everything, with him being asked to play different roles throughout the game. I personally feel Ratten is asking too much of an 18-year-old in game 13 having to play in a variety of roles, but to Sheezel’s credit he has been very good albeit perhaps a touch below his output from the first 9 weeks. He can play well in each third, but for a first-year player we should probably let him stick to one role.

You could argue that it’s partly due to the inclusion of Hall, but he hasn’t been the same player when asked to play down back for a few quarters here and there.

I prefer him getting 24 up the ground, then 34 deeper in d50. Personally I think he should have been moved into the middle earlier then the 4th quarter yesterday. He’s doing far more then we could ask or expect for a first year player.
