We're 12-2 with a league high percentage. I wonder what our record would look like if we were actually going well?

Sometimes we over analyse our own games and miss the flaws in other teams. We're objectively going well.

No one's saying we're a lock to win it but we are putting ourselves in the mix. There are some weaknesses in our team, but no team is without them. All clubs will work at improving over the rest of the season and the teams in best shape at the end will be the real contenders. With the wins we've banked we're better placed than anyone to time our run.

This isn't a season where we're clearly the best and are expected to win. In my view there is no clearly best team this season, the only two candidates though are us and Port. The Demons, Lions, even Cats are still flag threats despite their less than perfect season.

We're not going to prove ourselves the best now. All we can do is keep winning. Doesn't matter how or by how much. The goal is to finish top two and build up our form and squad as much as possible for an assault on finals.

You're extrapolating Grundy's last 6-7 games of the season where he started to actually dominate as his form for the season. He was overlooked for the round 1 team because Witts was performing better. If Witts finger injury hadn't gotten infected and prolonged his absence Grundy likely would have been dropped at times through the season. That he started to find some form before Witts returned doesn't now nor then make him "streets ahead". Your attempt to rewrite history is just laughable.
What l recall was that you couldn't play both in the same side. Witts forward was lumbering and slow, whereas Grundy was much better around the ground. If Witts was not in the ruck, he was otherwise useless.

I thought we got smashed in the clearances, but we actually won them by a narrow margin. It just shows how much emotion clouds your view.

Our brains have 5x the ‘wiring’ dedicated to perceiving potential threat instead of perceiving potential reward

Feeds our biases

Natural that we focus on our mistakes not theirs

The joy of watching Carlton when they play another club is I can leisurely focus on all their f*ck-ups

Re-watched the last quarter and it confirmed something that I’d put down to my annoyance at how we were playing in the third at the time - Anthony Hudson could not have been more biased if he tried. The bloke’s hatred for Collingwood is clear through his commentary and is incredibly unprofessional.

He went pretty ****ing quiet though once we won that final ball back. 😂

People are hanging a lot on McStays return. If we remember correctly he was close to useless in the games he played for us. Just so people know AJ has kicked a goal every game he’s played this season bar one. Personally I don’t know what our best forward set up is it’s a big curiosity. I would like to try Cameron out, Cox 1st ruck and have Checkers, AJ and McStay/Freddy as out talls.
I’m not rating Cameron, I’m so over him, not a ruck not a forward, Cox is both.
Cameron is currently of far more value to the team than Johnson. If Cox rucks a 2nd ruck is still needed. Johnson and McStay have not impressed in that role. Cameron was good in the final quarter. Also allows Cox to play forward - he kicked 2 vital goals in the last quarter.

Like you, I am not sold yet on McStay.

I had to put it mute in the 3rd, between he and Lyon...

I've been saying for about 15years, would love the option to be able to mute the commentators but still hear the crowd noise.

I beg to differ a bit on Mcstay he will be a key difference whether we are to compete or win the flag. Go back and watch the Port game and what Mcstay done to Alir Alir who is probably top 3 best intercepting defenders in the game. Mcstay plays May and Lever don't do what they did to us last week. Cameron has been extremely average since he's been back and is yet to even kick a goal this season. Think he was smashed again today by O'Brien's, Cox had been far more impressive

It's the big glaring hole in the whole set up - Johnson is a this great 'almost' player and McStay we've got on big money to give us his pretty modest Brisbane stats, but neither have delivered yet.

Revisionism, How exactly? In his last two years with us, Witt’s played like 10 games and Grundy played 40 odd. The suns chucking 2 late picks for Witts was a fair reflection of where he was at.

Both debuted in 2013 and prior to 2016, Grundy had 23 games, Witts 18. Then Witts missed half of 2016 with finger injury.

Bit difficult to watch the twos interstate. However, The original premise was calling letting him go another mistake. I disagree with that notion. At the time every club was keeping Grundy over him. We got pick 40 odd for him and something in the 60’s, gross unders. I’m not smashing Witts here but he wasn’t our number 1 ruck.

I assume you mean you were interstate

If you're looking for McStay to produce stats, you'll probably be disappointed. Especially if your key metric is goals. His main task will be to provide a contest. He's elite at that due to tank and competitiveness in the air.

This projects to make a big difference to our team when you consider that Mihocek is our one tall currently able to consistently provide a contest. Having another is expected to provide major flow on effects, even if McStay's individual stats might be modest.

In addition to competing in the air he can also tackle, lead up the ground and provide extra experience. To me he's a clear upgrade on AJ - that's even if they are competing, some chance we can play both, with McStay making AJ's job easier as he won't be playing as a KPP.

I understand why people aren't convinced with McStay, but I am because the minimum we need from him is what he has proven to do every week in Brisbane. Work hard and compete. We badly need it and there's no doubt he can provide that. What he can provide beyond that is the question and where others have doubts, but I'm not too concerned as the minimum he can provide is, in itself, enough to improve the team.

Sorry - was Buckley giving Witts a pat on the back and not man handling him in frustration.
My bad 😂
That was probably the only part of what you said that was accurate, although it happened 12 months earlier so isn’t really relevant.

Sorry - a coach publicly going nuts at a player is never a positive sign about that player or his performance.
That type of public exasperation by Bucks, given how controlled he always was in the media, speaks volumes.

Witts obviously was not impressing the powers that be.

Jordan was a massive loss for them. Could have been their Kennedy replacement, assuming they'd have worked out he's a midfielder. Great pick-up by the Crows.

Should have been having a shot after the siren too. Got lucky that the umps didn’t see that high contact with 11 seconds left. IMG_1189.JPG
