....Or a player/players? Graham, Soldo, Ralphsmith and Cumberland are expendable and would have some value. But I'd be okay trading a future 2nd if it meant getting pick 7 this year.

If GC did need to offload a Bowes-like salary dump with Fiorini perhaps we could give them all our picks plus say a future 3rd for 7 and Fiorini. They'd still need to source some extra points elsewhere though.

We'd have to get creative.

If we are offering them later picks for pick 7, we will prob have to trade way overs in points value or someone else will just offer better.

Said this about 10 weeks ago. If we are developing a new squad, I don't think Bolton is the type of player we need. He really is a cream on top player.
Rubbish. Bolton is the kind of player that makes oppos soil their jocks. Every team needs a couple. The guys that can turn it on and smash opposition with change left from a quarter. Dusty doing this less of in recent history. Bolton, more often.

Yeah if it's picks alone. If they need to salary dump it could work in our favor. Cats got Bowes and pick 7 for a 3rd rounder. Unbelievable.

I listened to an interview with GC head of recruiting amd he was asked if their cap is in order and he skirted the question a bit so I'd say they still have some work to do. As I said we'll have to get crafty.

I’m anticipating that it’d be something like we give a r2 and get hollands and pic 7 ,,,and we get lumped with his 600k plus contract to go

It's definitely in order, no Bowes trades are happening this year.

Currently 22, 40, 58 & 76 which wouldn't be enough points to swap for pick 7. We'd need to add another 2nd rounder IMO.

Also - at least as it currently stands - a fair few teams would be able to put a package together to GC that would be better than what RFC could put together.

Wondering what the deciding factor was last off season. Would be interesting to know what happened between him and Port.

My guess is Jason Horne-Francis agreed to request a trade.

Unless the offer is too good to refuse the following players are not on the table IMO

Nankervis - 28 year old 131 games Club Captain first ruck
Short - 27 year old 149 games established member of back line group
Hopper - 26 year old 123 games key midfielder next 7+ seasons
D.Rioli - 26 year old 152 games reinvented himself as a premier rebounding defender
Baker - 25 year old 102 games small & tough utility and possibly next captain
Taranto - 25 year old 129 games key midfielder next 7+ seasons
Bolton - 24 year old 105 games key midfield/forward next 7+ years
Balta - 23 year old 77 games Number 1 KPD
Ryan - 22 year old 15 games future number 1 ruck/2nd tall forward
Gibcus - 20 year old 18 games Number 2 KPD

For mine that group of 10 is the foundation which we're building around for the future. To become a premiership contender again, we need to add to that list, not be removing players from it.

If anyone older than Nankervis, came to the club and either requested a trade or said they'd like to explore free agency, then I'd have no issue in the club facilitating the request. Outside Tarrant, they're all premiership heroes and if they had a final chance to cash in on a deal, then good luck to them. They've given us something that a lot of us thought we'd never see.

I can see something like this getting Gold Coasts first round pick, trading guys like graham and soldo for 2nd or 3rd round picks, then collating picks to give the suns the neccesary points to pick up all three academy guys. Then trading them our future first and getting back gold coasts future second round pick/s, we have to give up the future first in order to get the pick, otherwise there is no incentive for gold coast to trade with us as opposed to other clubs who could offer all their later picks for points matching. I think list management are pretty bullish on our list still, and with a hopefully healthy lynch we should be better than this year and some of the close losses become wins

Just done a quick ladder predictor just tipping favourites or homes teams where it is tight.

I have us in the coveted 9th spot and Suns 14th. It probably finishes nothing like that but just to sort of give a vague starting point for some calculations.

Before free agency comp, priority picks and father-sons and acadamy selections that would mean:

Suns start with picks 5, 26(tied to GWS) 31(courtesy of previous pick swap with Crows) and several other lower picks.

Richmond would have picks 28 and 46 and 64. These might all be pushed back a couple of places at the point GCS would be using them as points. So let's say 30 49 67. This would amount to about 1000 points max.

There is every chance North and Eagles release Free Agents for compo picks that will be inserted into the top 4 pushing everything below that down 2 picks.

So the Suns first pick in that case would likely be pick about 7. That is worth 1644 points. They would probably command about 2000 points value in return or some other items of value to them.

So Richmond would have to be coughing up our 2024 first rounder you would think to entice Suns to do a deal based on draft picks alone.

Otherwise Tigers trade out players say for 2nd and or 3rd round picks to increase the 2023 draft points we could offer. I can't see us taking salary dump players. The only other possibility I could see is Dusty fancies a couple of years of sunny weather and we send him there with a good chunk of his salary paid in return for that pick. But that also seems a bit unlikely.

It will be very interesting to watch the wheeling and dealing around this.
