Has anyone else noticed that on Fox Footy’s promos for their finals coverage on the weekend, all the footage shown is of Collingwood, Melbourne, Carlton and Brisbane highlights. That coupled with all their finals related discussion and that of SEN has us completely out of reckoning. Our weak defensive profile (we’re ranked 12th) is the number one reason given followed by our injury toll.

Now, few of us disagree but the complete disregard for our chances irritates me just a bit. We know that Kern, Richo and Koch are just happy to have qualified and will take the disrespect by turning the other cheek, as will “it’s a tough comp” pin-up boys (Boak and others), but I hope that Connor, Zak and JHF convene a secret meeting of their own version of the Avengers, and produce a September of footy that changes the narrative around our club like never before. * the coaches. * the chairman. * the happy clappers. * the media. * all of us doubting supporters. May these three men * it all up and win the whole darn thing.

I love the highest scoring team badge the crows fans and media are promoting. They played West Coast twice after Rd 6.

I'm using that as the baseline not because Port played them in Rd 6, but in Rd 7 Carlton belted them by 108 pts at Perth Stadium and thats when the wheels really fell of and they stopped being competitive. They had a 10 goal loss to Melbourne in Rd 4 and between Rds 7 and 19 (they beat Norf in Rd 20) they lost 5 games by 100+ pts and 5 games between 50-99 pts.

There was a comparison going around the office today that Crows supporters would prefer their season if we screwed up finals again. I quietened them pretty quick by asking if they'd be happy to miss finals and we finished top 4 again next year.

Haha the only thing that I can instantly recall from that whole segment is a) there is no such thing as a franchise player in our game, its not like basketbball and 1 of 5 players can dominate and b) try and do a Port - we'd love to have a Butters, Rozee and Horne-Francis in our mid field.
