Probably will repeat what’s been said already but just thought I’d give my 2 cents worth.

firstly, the result is nice but have to mention how much of an advantage it is playing at Moorabbin knowing how to play it especially when the moorabbin doctor is up and running. Really showed in both teams games styles.

But in terms of takeaways,

You can tell we actually look very match hardened and ready to go, everyone was covering the ground so well and our pressure and running power was on full display.

The back 6 I thought was outstanding particularly wilkie, battle and stocker who had a couple ripping 1 on 1 efforts.

Loved seeing Phillipou’s cleanlyness and slick hands in tight. Steeley also looks back to his best.

My show stopper tho was Liam Henry, this bloke is pure silk with his decision making, smooth movement and skill execution. Perfect pick up for us.

Wilson looks more than ready for the level. His speed and athleticism is very danger like. Have high hopes for the kid.

The 4 quarters also reminded me of how much we missed the membrey and king combo last year, both looked great.

So yeah all in all we winning the flag, in RTB we

Could have sworn I saw Brains Trust legends @saintmike65 and @Saint Watto today, but sadly I soon discovered they were imposters as no Brains Trust Caps!

Seriously though, good to catch up lads!
I can't vouch for saintmike65 Tyrian.....but I was having a Brains Trust RDO today.

Sure,I copped some flack.........but that's the way things roll.

And it was great having a chat to you too.

The backline looks like it may have gone to another level. Individually outstanding and brilliant as a collective. We will be very hard to score against this year and we were missing our best player back there. So much attack came from there too, Bonner fitted in seamlessly.

I love the look of Wilson. Looks ready to play at the level already. Pace, good hands, good skills on both feet. Looks a ripper.

Midfield maybe a bit of a worry but we gave a lot of opportunities to some kids in there. But it looks like Pou still has a lot of work to do before he becomes a clearance player in there.

Feeling more bullish after seeing that, bringing Crouchy and Clark in will help in the middle, also Jones and Sincs and of course Windy. Bring on the season.

Hope the club posts a review of the seconds game, keen to read some proper notes on those that played in that as well.

Really enjoyable afternoon watching on from the hospitality area on the flank there. Prime position for that freak King finish!

Windy to have surgery tomorrow and be in the frame round 1 lightens up the only real sour note. Positive start to things for 2024

He is going to regret not going when he has to watch the game on Kayo and.suffer through those "special" comments...
Grace was a little pressed for words, but she was very complimentary about our boys. She did emphasise how hard we were running for each other off camera, and that was significantly pleasing to hear.

That's a good one there seesalswigs44.

I've never seen the term "Moorabbin Doctor" quoted before.......well done.

Freo....eat your heart out !!!!!!!

And the Doctor was a howling after 1/4 time with the VFL game.

The Southerly's blowing off the bay Oct thru Feb can be incredibly strong.

We struggled with centre square clearances, they beat us easily there.

But we performed better at stoppage clearances, and our speed and skill was much better in general play.

You have to take into account that most of our centre bounces had Phillipou and Garcia there coming up against the likes of Parish and Merrett. Not saying we’ll dominate the centre clearances but you’ve definitely gotta take today with a grain of salt.

The chatter around me this arvo was that no one had sighted Zac Jones anywhere.

Was there anything in the rumour that Zac had been detained by Rsea Park security for trying to impersonate Nick Hind.

I just find that incredibly hard to believe.

;)

Was going to say get the Watch AFL app but i checked it (I use it when I'm overseas) and it's only got the official practice games starting next week. Someone help this man.
Yeah, that's why I asked. But for future reference, the game was actually shown on WatchAFL after all. They just don't have their website sorted or updated to list these practice matches properly.

Cheers for the attempt at help though.

Great turnout at the ground today, well done to those who got there to show support.

Its a concern, even after Merret went off, we struggled in the middle.
We rely on turning it over in the backline, which will suck if Hawkins and Cameron are there.

Positives:
Crouch and Dow to come in.
