Our team looks really good and packed with talent.

I think Byrne-Jones and McEntee are a bit out of place in their positions but it is a new year and you never know who is ready for take-off. With Powell-Pepper is on the sidelines, hopefully one or both of them can step up.

It looks like Lachie Jones and Jase Burgoyne will be given plenty of time this year to mature into good AFL players or beyond.

A tad worried about the old crew of Dixon, Boak and to a lesser extent, Finlayson. At 56, Boak could have a bit of a bounce back season playing on the wing.

I'm excited to see how the backline functions. I thought we looked structurally really good during the preseason games. If we have the intercepting marking that I think we do and have guys like Houston, Burton, Farrell and Williams receiving the hand offs, we should have some ultra fast ball movement.

I'm also excited to see how Soldo and Sweet help the midfield. If Soldo gives a few balls on the platter our midfield might become an even bigger concern to the rest of the competition.

Really good to see Mead and Williams knocking on the door.

I'm unbelievably excited to see the twins, the Hornet and Bergman play and flourish.

We have young guys like Georgiades, Sinn, Lord, Visentini, Anastasopoulos, etc coming through.

guys can someone tell me where the bloody hell josh sinn is. before like 2 weeks ago he was a lock in the best 23, he payed in the crows vs port match sim and did his chances not wrong as he played quite well. ken and co have not even said anything about him over the last couple of weaks, its like blud has fallen off of the face of the earth.
finna commit some sins if blud doesnt play this yr on god

I'm not too fussed about the selection of Lachie Jones over Williams (yet) as he is very powerful, hits the contest hard, possesses a booming kick and can also take a strong mark.
I believe this was his first full preseason and he has gained confidence from that so if he can put all those attributes together he will be a very valuable player.

His major weakness (to me) is he tries to get to too many contests, which can result in the ball getting behind him and his man in free space, and if he doesn't rectify that area of his game Williams will replace him.

I will be interested to see if that changes now we have three (count them!) genuine tall defenders.

I suspect Bassett's team defence based around undersized key defenders forced him into the perpetual third up role which hurt his game.

Lachie looked to be playing differently in the trial games and was allowed to be accountable mainly for one man only.

To give you some more insight into the obsession over yonder. Comparing Reid to Bont and Pendles already

Seems like a fair comparison of a trait. The question mark isn't the comparison, the question mark is if he's actually got that ability or not.

The difference in most of the comparisons of JHF to Buckley is that it has been based on the way he moves and his sheer ability level/output at his age. Not necessarily because of a specific skill/attribute like this.

Yeah definitely, I saw Lachie talking recently, I can't remember if it was a presser or something else and he talked about being confident coming into this season. Of course, a good preseason is key but defining your role and if that role is in your wheelhouse, then a young player can really start to develop and really help out the team. He has a lot of powerful attributes to his game.

As you've said, the three key talls should help the medium defenders immensely. It gives all of our defenders confidence. There will be no real mismatches that oppositions can exploit. They can stick to their game. Of course, they will chip in but they don't have to worry about a Tom Jonas and to a lesser extent, mismatch with Trent McKenzie.

History says it will take a while for the back 6 to gel so we have to be a bit patient with it.

I'm a big Sinn fan and I think he is where he is meant to be, knocking on the door of the 23.

He really needs some quality time on the paddock and a good run of SANFL will hopefully do wonders for him.

He seems to be down for the half back flank or wing but I hope he plays a fair amount of game time on ball in the SANFL so he gets a lot of touches and confidence.

He was back with the rehab group the other day, although he's not been listed in the club "injury updates".

I wasn’t excited for Sunday, but I am now after seeing this! **** me dead. Stop trying to be everything, to everyone.
