And why does he play that style of game?

Because he has inherited a one paced midfield group that are by and large plodders who can’t go with the majority of the midfields in the competition - burnt to a crisp yesterday by Butters, Rozee & JHF.

And he has tried every possible midfield combination at some time this year - Steele, Ross, Crouch (1 game cooked), Windy, Pou, Henry, Dow, Jones, Sincs, Clark, Owens, Stocker & Garcia (have I missed any?). Not sure what more levers he can pull with what’s available.

We are going nowhere under any coach until we can draft / attract a better group of young quality mids who are dynamic & skilled.

Agree for the most part, but would like to see Nas and Mitchito get a real crack in the middle, would like to see some creativity here with rotations off half back and going forward. There’s not much value playing both Dow and Clark once we come up against any half reasonable oppo.

Wouldn't it also mean that when we can start winning the midfield (in the event that we have more capable players) we'll f'n smash every team we play against?
Defensive turnover is a major component of all good teams plans.
We move the ball fast plenty, just usually not for long because the players **** it up.

Yes it makes it a possibility.

I hear you - my concerns would be:

Nas is getting stronger but still very slight- would be worried that he hasn’t got the body at this stage of his career to withstand the punishment a midfielder cops - hopefully in the future.

Mitch could be an inside bull - agree- but still doesn’t possess the real speed to break lines & explode from stoppage we are lacking & keep up with the Butters, JHF types. Fox highlighted that 100m run from JHF in Q3 - I think it was Hunter (apologies if I’m wrong) burnt off after 20 metres & just couldn’t go with him for speed or enduarance - not sure Mitch would be much better.

Love Fox's take on Hammer's game. If you needed a reminder to take media analysis with a grain of salt.

The standards of the written media has really gone downhill.

It all looks like it’s done using a template with just a few words chucked in. Comes out looking something like:

“The Bairnsdale product told this masthead that he was happy about his performance on the weekend. He was able to beat his opponent, the Glenelg product after which the Port Pirie product was sent to him and was similarly beaten. This masthead understands that his coach was most impressed with the Sandhurst product telling this masthead it the Bairnsdale product’s best game to date”

archive.vn doesn’t tend to work for Code Sports articles (they have a better blocking system in place). Best to go the original source (Herald Sun) in this instance and copy the firewalled page and then post it… works that way. Btw.. Stavro#4 posted this article on the weekend in the trade thread discussion
I knew that it didnt work code sports, but it used to work for everthing rlse now it Doesn't work for me. I tried.

According these feeble-brained journalists, Clubs aren't allowed an opinion until everything is clicking on-field?

Riiiiight... So Carlton and Essendon haven't had an opinion on things for the last two decades?
Gold ss.

this thought process is so gross, firstly the two aren't related in regards to equality, secondly maybe if we had the draft benefits of other clubs max's game would be looking a lot better.

"Oh you want fairness and equality in the draft? LOL but ur club sucks hahahAHAh. Maybe don't suck so much and then come back to us losers"

nice work idiot cherry

Mitch has burst speed for sure. He's also clocked up big distances when played in the middle. Put him in there and leave him to learn.

OK, so Daniel Cherny is clearly an irrational flog.

Gold Coast don't even play their pick 8 2MP for a year.
But it didn't matter did it, because they've got all the Academy kids coming through to replace him, along with the compensation picks for all the free agents and players they traded out to the MCG clubs and Geelong.

And a score of first-round midfielders to deliver the ball to them all.

More first rounders in their 2nds (and the GWS 2nds) than on our entire list. But we're expected to have got our house in order. With what f'ing midfielders Dan, you potato?

The ones that don't come to us via FA? The ones we can't draft because of academies etc?

Absolute tool.

I agree with him, it was their inability to score that kept us in the game. Ports forward connection was putrid yesterday, it was worse than ours, but their midfield completely dominated. Once again people look at the final score and believe we are not far off, it couldnt be further from the truth, we are a train wreck and the entire club are not enjoying playing the game atm.
Their midfield consist of JHF (pick 1), Rozee (pick 5) and Butters (pick 12). What was ours? Pick 24, 7 and 47.

Just watched AFL 360 where there was a focus on King. No real knowledge but I just think the 2shoulder reconstructions have impacted him mentally - he is (maybe subconsciously) wary to really make physical contact, tackle etc. Until he can put those thoughts behind him he will continue to struggle.

Ps totally understandable - nasty injury.

On the couch just put the spotlight on the Saints tonight. I am usually over sensitive to anti St Kilda talk. And they weren’t really anti. Just raising some good points I thought.

The bit about supporting each other and celebrating their successes onfield was fair observation. Something that I hadn’t noticed. They noted we didn’t have the cattle and don’t have success getting free agents. So we fight from a difficult position. Partly our fault, but partly not.

Not going to go through it, but watch it if you can. And despite all our shortcomings and shortfalls, they did point out we only lost by 2 points. Against a high calibre midfield. Which we do not have. Some things are good. But we are a fair way back for the time being.

Correct - no coincidence that was when RTB gave Tommy Morris the drive by.

U can never beat these duplicitous prxxxs - they stick together, have a high opinion of themselves as a profession (haha) & know they will always have the last say and can twist the narrative to suit their agenda.

The club has probably seen this coming and prepared for it internally - the house always wins as they say in casinos - and if they haven't they deserve to cop it anyway.

All we can do is prepare for it too and support our club through the storm. They are fighting to survive as ever, we need to be battle hard mentally and stick together.

Remember: ALL the media work, directly or indirectly, for the institution Bassat and Lyon are currently criticising. That includes most SM pundits with media connections like Cherny etc. "Liquor license" Morris is like the weird Smeegle bloke from Lord of the Rings, there's no-one he won't knife to get his precious media status back after he destroyed it.
