I believe you are referring to fairy land, where everyone rides on unicorns to work, Football is played using fairy floss and the elves will sell you a jar of rainbows on the cobbled street-corners. This is the world where Graham commands a contract like the above
Didn’t say he had to be worth it, only that by paying it the Eagles might have a much better draft hand than they would otherwise

Yeah look mate I try to stay pretty positive about AFL players because I’ve known quite a few guys that haven’t made it but under different circumstances probably had the talent but yeah I just don’t see it with Samson either. Let’s hope he proves us all wrong
He hasn't got the size, nor sure if he will fill out, but more importantly I don't see the competitive mongrel in him to make up for any other short comings.
Obviously the club holds hope in giving him 3 years..

Everyone else does it

Freo sells 9, 10 & 17 to WC for 3 & 23.

We get 3 & (Freo’s existing) 27 for Shai, and from WC we get 10, the Hawks Barrass pick (12), or more likely 17 for Baker.

WC turns 3 & 23 into Baker, 9, 10 & Graham, Freo gets Shai & we get 3, 6, 10/12/17, 20 & 22 (Graham comp).

Add 6 & 20 (ideally 13 but would need to help them out with plenty more points going back) for Rioli & then trade later picks for Brisbane’s 1st.

1, 3, 6, 10/12/17, (say) 14, 20, 21, 22, 27

It’s not hard
You’ve missed your calling.

If you could get those picks you’re advocating and declaring are not hard, I want you as senior negotiator for the RFC. HOWEVER as you have both WC and Richmond with pick 10 I think you may be a little off the mark.

I hope we are looking at Nathan O’Driscoll from Freo.

I've just gone shopping for hats as I said i would eat my hat if some of those trades happen that have been fantasized about

Haven't bought it yet but it's very close.

Imagine:

Bolton for pick 9 & 10
Rioli for pick 6 & 20
Baker & 9 for pick 3

Gee, that might ease my stomach a bit from the thought of Graham and 4 more years.

Trade 39,41 & 47 to Brisbane for pick 14

Hit the draft with:

1,3,6,10,14,20,21,29

Confusing.
When the Richmond CEO Dunne said that it will require 'extraordinary deals'. He didn't mean for the other teams.

I'm leaning towards option 2.

I think this is part of a good will dealing with WCE.

We get a better than expected compo pick for Graham and will accept a pick in the 20's for Baker instead of asking for the Barrass compo pick.

they get to keep their high compo pick, we get a little over for Graham and with the Baker pick end up with 2 picks in the early 20's
Hey Michael,
there saying pick 3 is on the table for baker, obviously something going back...

Would you do 6/10 for 2 then you have
1/2/3/14/20/21/29

Hopper has different attributes to Graham. It would be more like Taranto being interchangeable with Graham.
I thought we were talking more as inside midfield protection for the younger kids? This is something I believe Hopper could, or at least could learn to do.
That would leave TT to rotate more through the forward line which I think will suit him more.

Hi mate,

i nearly fell off my chair when i saw that! ha ha.

one idea we floated at work (I'm sure others have mentioned it too) was:

Rich get: Picks 9 and 10 (freo)
Freo get: Bolton, maybe a 2nd or 3rd rounder?

then

Rich get: pick 3
WCE get: Baker and pick 9.

would give us:

1, 3, 6 (rioli), 10

No idea if that works or not, but its going to be fascinating!

Yes I think that would be Hopper's role, taking the major body contact on the inside, leaving the new mids largely out of that type of combat. But Taranto and/or Graham are great two-way runners, albeit both a bit slow off the mark. So their presence in the middle or high half forward allows the new highly skilled mids to focus mostly on just getting the ball and breaking clear with it and doing damage, with a bit less concern about spending too much energy running defensively.

So say you draft a Harry Sheezel. You don't want him getting battered in repeated inside contests, or having to spend all his energy chasing arses in transition. All 3 of Hopper, Taranto and to a lesser extent Graham can help with the first issue and especially Taranto and Graham can help with the second problem - whether they are playing in the middle or as high half forwards.

I'm petty and would prefer 4 single digit picks so they can have Baker + 10

Oh look we’ve got Mr Details in the house.
Noted. Though the 10 is an option - whatever we get for Baker - suspect not us so we’d take 12 or 17

Our 4 exiting dudes for 3, 6, (one of) 10/12/17, 20, 22, 27. Plus later selections for 14. I’d do that

Graham works insanely hard and is an elite runner this talk of him being to slow based on blokes at home watching tv and seeing him slip out of frame a couple of times a game actually doesn’t recognise just how good a worker he is

Sort of irrelevant. Taranto, Prestia, Hopper make Graham's situation pretty untenable. We finished last, what do you propose, we do it again? We need to change things up. Hopper is the next on the line of good enough players that have to get pushed out for us to improve. Graham will get us a good return, this year only.

You cheeky campaigner, you ****n massive campaigner

I hear Jack Lukosius may be on the Table at the Suns.

Any chance we would be interested? I don't mind him as a player.

Only 24 so would still be a good age in 4-5 years when some of these new kids we get are at there prime.
