Has there been any Aboriginal players picked in this draft?
I don't think so.

Had a quick look on the AFL draft tracker and pictures of players and see if their were any dark skinned blokes. Yeah i know its deeper than that, but it was just a quick glance type reference.

I'm glad I did, because the only darked skinned player I noted was pick #9 Leonardo Lombard by GC from their academy. I look up his profile on RookiemeCentral to see if he was Aboriginal, he isn't but discovered that:

It is no surprise that Leo, the son of former UFC fighter and world renowned grappler, Hector Lombard, is one of the most combative and driven draft prospects available this year. Having seen four fellow Academy products attract first round bids last year, he has done everything possible to do so himself.

Héctor Lombard (born 2 February 1978) is a Cuban-Australian professional mixed martial artist, bodybuilder, and former Olympic judoka who competes in the Light Heavyweight division of Eagle FC. Lombard has also competed in the middleweight and welterweight divisions.

GC don't need to employ John Donehue when Hector can help out his son's Suns teammates. This is the sort of bloke we need at Port to improve our tackling and grappling.

Or take a player in the PSD

Have there been any rumours? I can't think of anyone we'd take at PSD. Seems like with DFAs and SSPs, the PSD may be becoming a bit irrelevant.

Would make zero sense to choose a kid we could've drafted in the main draft through PSD. So would have to be a mature age surprise. Even then you'd think that'd be a SSP likely scenario.

PSD pick ups are very rare these days.

PORT ADELAIDE

Picks (at the start of the draft): 13, 29, 36, 50

Selections: Joe Berry (15), Jack Whitlock (33), Christian Moraes (38)

The Power landed Murray Bushrangers livewire Joe Berry after using Pick 45 to get a pick ahead of West Coast in the first round, despite having been linked to a key-position type with their first selection. Berry is an exciting forward prospect who plays in a similar manner to Port Adelaide champion Joe Berry and is a chance to walk straight into Ken Hinkley’s best 23. Night two proved just as fruitful for the Power, snapping up slider Jack Whitlock at No. 33 — after it was understood they were surveying key forward options with their first selection. They made another value addition five picks later, calling the name of running machine Christian Moraes to supplement their midfield group.

Grade: A

Taking it with a grain of salt they graded us as an A, along with Brisbane and their 3 picks at 5,25 and 42 and gave A+ to Richmond no surprise there with 7 picks under 30 and 8 all up, and WCE with their 5 picks at 16,30,46,48 and 65.

In terms of rookie selections, if Dennis gets to us and we don't pick him then we are being irresponsible about our backline situation. Going all in on Aliir and BZT is reckless imo. One big injury to either of them and our season is over.

If people tell me "we have Esava, Marshall and Finlayson who can go back" as excuses then you're only kidding yourselves. One doesn't know which way is up when he's in defence, one is a hit away from retiring and the other is going through a personal issue and is not fully focused (obviously I don't blame him). We delisted Cluz and KMarshall (the latter of which I don't really care).

If we took KMarshall 2 years ago for his athleticism, we can take Dennis for his actual defensive craft at least as a rookie.

Would also look at 1 of Hargrave, Day-Wicks or Murphy. We cannot use up a position on Watkins who clearly no other recruiter rates in any form and put him on our AFL list

On Monday if you where offered

Whitlock

Berry

Moraes

You would have taken it and run.

Melts over Berry first picked but it has worked out.

It's an A for mine.

We have an issue with Key Defenders that needs to be addressed but probably a target next year. We need a plan for Douglas Cochrane eventually.

Jack Whitlock reminds me of Tim English but with a competitive edge.

Joe Berry just oozes class, deep draft but he might end up being a steal at pick 15.

I’m a bit meh on Moraes, think Lorenz will have a better career.
Agree on all points. I’m unashamedly a Lorenz fan and reckon he will be an improved version of Polec. Hard running, neat kick, cuts angles and likes a goal.
Berry is growing on me and Jack will be a lock into the future.

Berry plays like champion Port Adelaide player Joe Berry 😂

I'm the reverse

Moraes has the highest ceiling of the 3. Was a top 10 contender this time last year. Backed it up with a good year although not as strong as Smith, Langford, Smilie etc. I think he's got a lot of traits similar to Rozee. His real development will come through once there's a head coach change that would allow us to lower the eyes. Yeah he's got an interesting technique but I'd say it's normally good too.

Berry is a good small forward, I think he'll consistently kick 30 goals a year. I still stick to my point that he isn't a need but don't question the quality of the player.

Whitlock is a bit meh for me, I ultimately think we'll stuff up his development (or any tall's) anyways by swinging him forward and back. Consistent with what we've done for Lord and now Walsh.
