I'd like our captain to not be a below average kick

Mins in the grand final. The captain Ginbey shanks it. Has there ever been a captain who was prone to shanking it or being a below average kick

If Harley extends, he needs to be installed captain from approx 2027.

Yeo and Gov can't be trusted to stay on the field. TK is an outsider with flakey consistency. I think we have no choice but to stay with OA as captain. Oh, and Duggan. He's hardly good enough to be in the team. I'd have Watermelon over him.
What leadership credentials do you believe Harley offers?

Or are you thinking like a primary school kid and pick the best player as captain?

Same as Toby greene.

If Toby Greene is captain material. I think he is. Then Harley is captain material.

Captaincy often removes the I in team and would help Harley with the bigger picture. Toby matured a great deal as a result being installed captain.

I feel as he gets more comfortable at half back we might see him go for a run more often. He needs to use that elite athleticismTotes to be the best he can be

Tites agree, run all day, tough and aggressive
Half back is the place for him

I was hoping your response could have enlightened me, but that’s pretty much what I expected, a dim response🤣
I remember Woosha shanking a few too, and he certainly wasn’t the best player in the team, but he knew how to lead, by his actions.
Ginbey is very much leading the way on the training track, and definitely starting to look at home on the half back flank.

Duggan in his first couple years showed his dart kicking and also Duggan won the kicking test at combine.

Duggan when he kicks it does not shank it. He sometimes kicks it stupidly to 1 v 1 at opponents advantage. Not the issue. Atleast it's to a contest.

Glass is uber consistent. I just can't trust Ginbey to not do an andrew embley and shank it in dieing mins of grand final.

I've never once sat and watched ginbey and thought wow what a brilliant kick and great vision. Duggan I have and the other examples I have

Mainwaring was a bit butchery too but actions were what he was known for too

Graham coming does at least mean Sheed won’t be an automatic selection like in previous years for experience, albeit I think Sheeds best is better. It’s good for the group at both ends, being on the fringe of B22 if he’s fit. Keeps a few honest.

He’s likely to retire in a blaze of glory next year with us reminiscing of that wonderful day in September again but he’s at worst going to be a good mentor to our younger boys at the Beagles so although I thought he would bow out last year I’m happy he’s still at the club.

Difference is under Simmo we went slow, then when nothing obvious popped up we bombed it to nothing.
If we move the ball a lot faster the oppo defence wont have time to set up.

Imagine Reid/Hewett/Yeo/Allan bursting from a stoppage on the defensive side of the wing, shrugging off a tackle, taking 2 bounces and sending it long, 1 on 1s everywhere inside 50. If Allen/Waterman/JWilliams cant mark it at least they can bring it to ground where our (ideally) strong small forward brigade can go to work. We have enough small forwards on the list that at least a couple will be very good players, surely.

Just not a fan of constantly bombing it.

Rather getting it to someone 60-70m out & a fwdthen can lead up for a mark - with the alternate option of it being run into the 50m & kicking a goal.

The defenders can't be sure which the danger is.

Going quick from stoppage to an unprepared backline also works. Seemed to get good results whenever Reid or Yeo burst from a stoppage out of the middle. Just need more of that, and less of the opposition running away with it every time they touch the ball.

We have elite KPFs, may as well make use of them, let them do their job in the air. If we cant trust them to do that then why bother paying them big bucks?

Given Ginbey's poor kicking he is never going to be anything close to an offensive weapon for us coming our of the backline. He really does need to learn how to completely lock down an opponent so he at least offers something defensively to be worth his salt in the team.

He is not a total spud but he is spud adjacent. Likely to not ever even be at Jayden Hunt quality which is really disappointing since we got Hunt for free and Ginbey was a top 10 pick.

Ginbey?

Poor kicking?
