Any award that doesnt allow players from multiple clubs to compete for it has to be an internal club thing for me, no way another entity needs be involved.
Even with the grand final boosting and playing the same number of games, the fact that no player from the grand final teams managed to rack...
Playing/winning in the h&a season and other finals doesnt make you a premiership player, it helps your club reach the grand final. I concur with the view that some recognition should be given for that, but not the same as grand final players.
A good example I reckon is Jack Payne. Played most...
I like the tradition of umpires judging the award and I think disposals is an overrated quick and easy metric that doesnt always pass the eye test. Maybe AFL should come up with a stats award each season to keep people happy. Can say 1 goal == 5 disposals and most disposals in a game wins BOG...
Just checked the old ladders, interesting to see 2015 Fremantle was the last team to start the year 13-2. 2013 Hawks and Cats was the last time 2 teams did it in the same year. And now Port and Collingwood have done it this year.
edit: 2011 Collingwood was the last team with a better start to a...
Not really sure what to say, love the bloke. Done so much, players have enormous respect for him. Probably not gonna see the like for a long time. Wish you the best Dimma, thanks.
Also interesting and I didn't think it a few weeks ago but Ryan & Miller are actually gonna make me miss them when we bring back Nack & Lynch. It's good to remember that more games into guys does develop them.
Great win, Bolton looking good in the midfield, dusty Awesome highlights again, Cotchin nabs 3, Balta battled well, Broad BOG, wanted to shoutout Baker who I couldn't quite fit into my votes.
I been criticising Bolton the last few weeks, so really wanted to say he was awesome today, especially his link up passing. And that mark he took with his last touch was sublime.
Probably just repeating what others said but its cathartic to jot down your thoughts 😆
Pickett was poor defensively
Jack played well all night
Did Vlaustin have new boots on cos he slipped over on like 3 crucial occasions
Dusty had a lot o misses but id back him in to turn it around. His goal...
I dont think looking at the h&a matchup counts for anything when it comes to the richmond side of that era. Of the 12 finals the tigs played in between 17-20, 3 of them went the same way as the h&a game, 3 of them were played against sides tigs went 1-1 against during h&a and the remaining 6...
One of these years I'll get around to buying a tigs membership and when I do I'd be happy with buying such an option, never been a fan of the gambling adds.
Damn just made me think about an option where you pay for there to be no advertising on the jumpers, might be adding up though.
Yeah more likely than not that's true, I just don't feel like we're that bad a team as the margin suggested. I think we'll win the rematch later in the year.
I'm actually still bullish. That last quarter wasn't indicative of the game, Sydney started taking pot shot risks, it payed off and then they had their tails up / we gave up and the margin blew out.
Those young guys are gonna be better off with more gametime in them, they aren't gonna keep...

Dang its interesting going through the OP and seeing just how many of these historical climbers feel so unpredictable. All of these teams had issues they for one reason or another managed to overcome. And they were largely overcome during the offseason without anyone being able to really notice...
Been said a few times already but 2005 Sydney-Geelong Semi, Nick Davis 4 goals in the last quarter, in what was an ultimately 7.14 to 7.11 game was sublime.
tarrant grimes broad
rioli vlaustin baker
pickett cotchin mcintosh
bolton riewoldt martin
rioli lynch cumberland
nankervis prestia hopper
taranto short gibcus graham miller
Might be a tad tall but that's alright.
Just wanted to stop in to congratulate Geelong, well deserved 👍 Pretty amazing finding/developing players and staying around the top for so long, getting the reward for it today.
Correct me if I'm wrong but since 2017 at least, and in many of the other years listed, it seems to have gone to the coach of the club that jumped the most ladder positions from the year before? In many ways that makes it one of the more deserving awards going round.
Except of course how much...
It was the saints that did us by 33, Adelaide got us 2 weeks later.
Kind of surprisingly, Adelaide are the club with the best record against us over the last 6 years, they seem to match up on us well.
17:
Did us by 76 - biggest loss of the year
We did them by 48 - 4th biggest win
18:
Did us by...
