Kane Cornes should concede this week on Footy Classified he is looking more stupid by the minute.
the other media outlets are starting to praise him constantly. he would actually gain a little more respect back if he comes out & says.
I got it "wrong"
He actually did say that Taranto has improved, which is right and a fair judgment in my books.
Taranto is great at winning the ball. we needed someone to do that and he is the man.
What id like him to do is instead of throwing the ball on his boot 99 % of the time, is to look for a good option and deliver a pass.
something I've seen Ross do a lot lately (which, apart from his big booboo this week ,has impressed me).

IF Tim did a bit of that, id be right on the praise everyone here is giving him.

Even with the bye he can't drop below 4th

When we recruited him we would have been hoping and expecting he would do really well this season.

But 7 rounds or so into the season it was very fashionable to criticise both his performance and his recruitment. Since then, jesus. Not like he is playing in a team that is winning virtually every game either.

It turns out it was a lot less legitimate to question the value of a player whose kicking isn't dynamite than it would have been to query soft contested players like J Cameron when people were touting him as the best in the game.

Taranto will never be the unquestioned best player in the game. But we can see he is a very reliably excellent contributor as an all round midfielder who gets disposals, contested possessions, clearances, goals, tackles and covers big distances running both ways contest to contest.

Personally I think it shows ones football intelligence to know the difference between disposal efficiency and disposal effectiveness.

What I also appreciate is when supporters can try and see more than just what is presented right in front of their nose. Taranto’s decision making with ball in hand has been HEAVILY effected by game plan and weather conditions so far this year.

He is instructed to get the ball going forward at all costs, to take territory. It is the Richmond game plan. Whether it has been a success so far is another discussion…but he is instructed to put the ball on the boot rather than take easy options sideways (which inflates the disposal efficiency % statistic greatly).

Richmond has also had 8-9 matches so far this season that has been wet weather footy. This has played a big part in ball use.

Tarantos work rate to get to contests and Richmond’s massive reliance on him to be our “inner layer” at stoppages is meaning he is quite often the first disposal from a stoppage.

Add to this he is in his first 14 games at a new football club that hasn’t had their best key forward for most of the season.

I do get that, ball in motion etc......he is not a playmaker in the true sense of the word, he isn't an architect.
He is a builder and labourer, and that in itself is fine because he does do a mountain of work that we needed doing.

Afl.com usually off with these things but its been a fair effort by Taranto

There is no way Taranto is winning the Brownlow even if his form continues and we keep winning.

Umpires hate us, Taranto will get plenty of 1 or 2 votes in games he should poll 3.

Round 16 Lions v Richmond

Taranto with 52 possessions and 3 goals >>>> 1 vote LOL

I think the areas where Ross gets the footy is very different to where Taranto does.
It's not a fair comparison. Often Taranto doesn't have the time to assess the landscape and pull off a nice pass.

Imagine the salt if TT wins the brownlow… Oppo supporters and the media so desperately want to buy into the judgement that our trade was a bust. This will do their heads in
Said it somewhere when we got Timmy that he'd win the Brownlow this year, can't get why everyone is acting so surprised.

Real question can he do the Premiership, Norm smith, Brownlow triple?

That is where the smart money is going

Already got people telling me he would be a shit brownlow medal winner.

Taranto is exactly the kind of player that wins the brownlow

Very similar to players like

Ollie Wines
Cripps
Fyfe
T Mitchell
Danger
Priddis

All in and under, all not great kicks, all at the furnace, right under the umpires nose, doesn't complain either, and a very fair player

If anything, other than Cripps and Danger, he is better, as he kicks goals

We win a few more games and make finals, he will be the unbackable favorite

tommy toronto gonna get 2 votes every remaining game now (dusty will get the 3's)

won't be enough for the brownlow when daicod is gonna get 3 votes every single game regardless of his performance

Timmy T, Dusty and Cotch is a bloody lethal combination as well as Hopper, Prestia and others including Bolton doing the odd cameo
